FC Copenhagen welcome Bayern Munich to Denmark on Tuesday evening, where they will be looking to cause an upset in Group A. The visitors are the favourites and they will see this fixture as an opportunity to extend their 100% record.
FC Copenhagen
Byens Hold are top of the Superliga after ten games, but some of Jacob Neestrup’s teams performance have been less than convincing, mainly due to their slight vulnerability at the back. FC Copenhagen are strong in attack and average 2.1 goals scored per game, but their most recent form has been worrying, conceding twice in four of the last five games.
Their first UEFA Champions League (UCL) game versus Galatasaray is included in that statistic, as they drew 2-2 on the road. Mohamed Elyounoussi opened the scoring in the 35th minute which sent Copenhagen into the break with the lead. Then, just minutes before the hour mark, Diogo Goncalves doubled the visitors lead. However the tie took a turn fifteen minutes later as Elias Jelert picked up his second yellow card of the game. The hosts continued to apply pressure and once they found the breakthrough in the 86th minute, they were able to equalise just moments later.
Bayern Munich
Thomas Tuchel’s side are scoring for fun in the Bundesliga this season, but they currently find themselves in third place after two 2-2 draws against Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig in the last three games. Their star signing, Harry Kane, has dominated his new opponents in Germany, registering eleven goals and assists already in just six games. Leroy Sane has also took on goal scoring responsibility, scoring five goals himself.
The pair were also on the scoresheet in Bayern Munich’s opening UCL game versus Manchester United. The ex-Manchester City player opened the scoring two minutes before the half hour mark and Serge Gnabry added a second just four minutes later. Tuchel’s side have struggled at the back in big games and Rasmus Hojlund brought one back after the break. However, Harry Kane stepped up from the spot to regain the two goal lead. The tie ended 4-3 to Bayern Munich after a crazy seven minute period where Casemiro scored a brace, with a Mathys Tel goal in between.
Verdict?
Bayern Munich will win this game quite comfortably and they should net a few goals. FC Copenhagen have struggled at the back in Europe and in Denmark, so they will be up for a huge test when facing the likes of Kane and Sane.
The Final Prediction is FC Copenhagen 0-3 Bayern Munich.
