The San Siro hosts AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund this Tuesday in the penultimate week of the Champions League Group stage. Group F is still wide open but a win this week could put Dortmund in control of their qualification.
AC Milan currently sit third in Group F after four games. The Italian side have one win, two draws and one loss, leaving them on five points, one point behind PSG and two points behind Dortmund but one point ahead of Newcastle.
In their last five games in all competitions, AC Milan have two wins, two draws and one loss. A brace from Olivier Giroud gave Milan the 2 - 0 lead going into halftime, but goals from Matteo Politano and Giacomo Raspadori meant it was level going into the closing stages. Milan were unable to find their way through even with Natan’s late red card for Napoli. The one loss came against the run of play against Udinese. Roberto Pereyra’s penalty was the only goal of the game in the 1 - 0 win for Udinese with only 27% of the possession.
Last time out in the Champions League for Milan was against PSG. Milan Skriniar opened the scoring for PSG in the ninth minute, but a goal from Rafael Leao and another goal from Giroud gave Milan the 2 - 1 comeback win. However, back in the Serie A, it was another draw for Milan. Giroud was on the scoresheet again, this time along with Tijjani Reijnders. However, Nicola Sansone and Lameck Banda both scored to level the game and this time it was Milan who went a man down as Giroud was sent off in the 93rd minute.
The most recent outing for Milan was against Fiorentina. Theo Hernandez converted his penalty in the added time of the first half in the 1 - 0 win for Milan.
Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, sit top of Group F. In four games, Dortmund have two wins, one draw and one loss which leaves them on seven points, one point ahead of PSG and two points ahead of AC Milan.
In their last five games in all competitions, Dortmund have three wins and two losses. In the Second round of the DFB Pokal, Dortmund hosted Hoffenheim. Marco Reus scored the only goal of the game in the 1 - 0 win over ten-man Hoffenheim who had Ozan Kabak sent off late on. Back in the Bundesliga, it was Der Klassiker but Dortmund failed to rise to the occasion. Dayot Upamecano opened the scoring in the fourth minute and Harry Kane grabbed a hat-trick in the 4 - 0 win for Bayern Munich.
Dortmund bounced back in the Champions League against Newcastle. Niclas Fullkrug and Julian Brandt both scored in the 2 - 0 win for Dortmund. However, it was defeat again in the Bundesliga, this time against Stuttgart. Fullkrug gave Dortmund the lead, but a goal from Deniz Undav and a penalty from Serhou Guirassy gave Stuttgart the 2 - 1 win.
The last time out for Dortmund was against Borussia Monchengladbach. Marcel Sabitzer, Fullkrug, Jame Bynoe-Gittens and Donyell Malen all scored in the 4 - 2 win for Dortmund.
In the Champions League, AC Milan and Dortmund have only met on five occasions. Milan have the marginally better record in the fixture with two wins in comparison to Dortmund’s one win, with the other two meetings ending in a draw.
