RB Leipzig welcomes Red Star Belgrade to the Red Bull Arena this Tuesday with both sides losing to the Champions League holders Manchester City in recent weeks ahead of matchday three in Europe's elite competition.
It hasn't been the best of starts for Leipzig this season and they head into this match in fifth place after a win over Darmstadt over the weekend that saw Lois Openda keep up his excellent form with two goals. The Frenchman scored one of those goals in the first minute. Emil Forsberg also got in on the act with a finish in the first half that day.
This did end a run of three games without a win for Leipzig, as they drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich before a loss at home in the Champions League to Man City. They would then draw 0-0 with VfL Bochum shortly after that.
So far, Leipzig have only lost one game in the Bundesliga, which was to the league leaders Bayer Leverkusen on the opening day of the season. They have since gone on to win five matches and draw twice with only seven goals conceded across the season so far and 19 goals scored. Leipzig have also defeated BSC Young Boys 3-1 in the Champions League so far, as Mo Simakan netted after three minutes before goals from Xaver Schlager and Benjamin Sesko.
As for Red Star, they are second in the Serbian SuperLiga after a win over Javor. They also defeated Taral Krusevac just before that in a 6-0 first round win during the Serbian Cup. They are also only adrift of top spot by one point in the league.
