Sevilla host PSV at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this Wednesday in the penultimate week of the Champions League Group stage. The fate of Group B is still very much in the air, and a win for PSV could strengthen their qualification charge or a win for Sevilla could bring them into the equation.
Sevilla currently sit bottom of Group B after four games. The Spanish side have two draws and two losses, leaving them on two points, three points from Lens and PSV and seven points from Arsenal.
In their last five games in all competitions, Sevilla have one win, two draws and two losses. In the First round of the Copa del Rey, Sevilla faced Quintanar. Rafa Mir, Youssef En-Nesyri and Adria Pedrosa all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Sevilla. Back in La Liga, Sevilla travelled to Celta Vigo. Carl Starfelt opened the scoring for Celta Vigo in the 22nd minute, but after the red card to Renato Tapia, Sevilla had a route back into the game. En-Nesyri grabbed a goal in the 84th minute to make the game finish 1 - 1.
In the Champions League, Sevilla met Arsenal. Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka both scored in the 2 - 0 win for Arsenal where Sevilla had just one shot and 38% of the possession. It was another 1 - 1 loss for Sevilla back in La Liga. Ayoze Perez drew first blood for Real Betis in the 72nd minute. Despite Ivan Rakitic scoring just seven minutes later, neither side found a winner.
The last time out for Sevilla was against Real Sociedad. A Marko Dmitrovic own goal and a goal from Umar Sadiq gave Real Sociedad the 2 - 0 lead going into halftime. En-Nesyri did get Sevilla into the game, but red cards to Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas meant it ended as a 2 - 1 win for Sociedad.
PSV, on the other hand, sit second in Group B. In four games, PSV have one win, two draws and one loss which leaves them on five points, equal with Lens and four points behind Arsenal.
In their last five games in all competitions, PSV have four wins and one loss. After the early red card to Justin Hoogma, the floodgates opened. Luuk de Jong, Jerdy Schouten, Malik Tillman, Andre Ramalho Silva, Guss Til and Ricardo Pepi all scored in the 6 - 0 win for PSV. In the Champions League, PSV hosted Lens. de Jong scored again in the 1 - 0 win for PSV over a ten-man Lens, who had Morgan Guilavogui.
Back in the Eredivisie, PSV faced PEC Zwolle. Hirving Lozano, Til, de Jong and Tillman all scored again in the 4 - 0 thrashing of Zwolle, where PSV registered 21 shots in comparison to Zwolle’s three shots. In a friendly with Schalke, Simon Terodde and Keke Topp both scored in the 2 - 0 win for Schalke.
The most recent outing for PSV was against Twente. An early red card for Mees Hilgers for Twente opened the gates for PSV. Joey Veerman and Johan Bakayoko and an own goal from Robin Propper gave PSV the 3 - 0 win.
Sevilla and PSV have only met three times in their histories. Nothing separates the two sides with one win each with the other game ending in a draw. Sevilla have five goals, whereas PSV have just four goals in the fixture. However, the cards are the main attraction in this fixture with eight yellows for Sevilla and five yellows and one red for PSV.
