Red Star Belgrade travel to Wankdorf Stadium to face Young Boys in the penultimate match weeks of the Champions League Group stage. Neither side have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League knock-out stages but are in a battle with each other for the spot in the Europa League.
Young Boys currently sit bottom of Group G after four games. The Swiss side have one draw to their name, leaving them on just one point. Though this is equal with Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys have only scored four goals but have conceded 11 goals.
In their last five games in all competitions, Young Boys have three wins and two losses. In the Round of 16 of the Swiss Cup, Young Boys travelled to Rapperswil. Jean-Pierre Nsame and Saidy Janko both scored in the 2 - 0 win for Young Boys to book their place in the next round. Samuel Ballet opened the scoring for Winterthur in the fourth minute, but Joel Monteiro and Filip Ugrinic both scored to give Young Boys the 2 - 1 lead going into halftime. Despite Sandro Lauper’s red card, Loris Benito and Meschak Elia scored to secure a 4 - 1 win for Young Boys.
In the Champions League, Lauper got himself sent off for the second time in a week, as Erling Haaland scored twice along with a goal from Phil Foden in the 3 - 0 win for Manchester City. Young Boys bounced back in the Swiss Super League against Luzern. Darian Males, Silver Ganvoula M’boussy, Ebrima Colley and Nsame all scored along with a brace from Elia in a 6 - 1 win for Young Boys.
The last time out for Young Boys was against Zurich. Jonathan Okita and Nikola Katic put Zurich into an early 2 - 0 lead, but Elia was able to get Young Boys on the scoresheet before halftime. However, Bledian Krasniqi scored in the 100th minute to secure the 3 - 1 win for Zurich.
Red Star Belgrade sit just above in third also with one draw in four games. However, Red Star have scored five goals and have conceded ten goals, giving them a marginally better goal difference over Young Boys.
In their last five games in all competitions, Red Star have three wins, one draw and one loss. Both Red Star and Backa Topola left it late to find their goals, with Aleksandar Katai scoring in the 84th minute for Red Star and Ifet Djakovac scoring in the 91st minute as the game finished 1 - 1. Jovan Mijatovic, Uros Spajic and Guelor Kanga all scored for Red Star in the 3 - 1 win over Radnik Surdulica.
In the Champions League, Red Star faced RB Leipzig. Xavi Simons and Lois Openda both scored and even with an own goal from Benjamin Henrichs, Leipzig held on for the 2 - 1 win. Back in the Serbian SuperLiga, Red Star travelled to Zeleznicar Pancevo. Lazar opened the scoring for Zeleznicar Pancevo but late goals from Mirko Ivanic and Mijatovic gave Red Star the 2 - 1 win.
The most recent outing for Red Star was against Vojvodina. Osman Bukari bagged a brace for Red Star as they picked up another 2 - 1 win, with Vojvodina having Sinisa Tanjga sent off late on.
Young Boys and Red Star have met five times in their histories. There has only been one win in this fixture, that being for Red Star, as all of the other meetings between the two have ended in a draw.
