FC Basel look to get the job done in their Europa Conference League semi-final second leg tie as they face Fiorentina.
Basel are strong favourites heading into this tie after amassing a 2-1 first leg lead in Florence, something few expected them to manage.
However, the Swiss side gave as good as they got in Italy and have now manoeuvred themselves into a very advantageous position as they come into this game as favourites to progress to the final.
They come into this game in decent form overall having won three of their last five matches.
They did lose 6-1 away at St. Gallen at the weekend, but having rested almost their entire lineup the relevance of that result is greatly diminished.
Their home form is a concern coming into this game, with Basel failing to win any of their last five games on home soil.
They have, though, lost only once at home in the Europa Conference League this season and given they only need a draw here the odds are firmly in their favour.
Basel may have to weather a storm for several periods of the game but they could not ask for a more favourable scenario coming into the second leg of a European semi-final.
Fiorentina were looking unstoppable from February through to the start of April but they look as though they may have already peaked this season having tailed off slightly in recent weeks, a decline that has unfortunately coincided with one of the most important periods in their recent history.
La Viola were subjected to a shock home defeat against Basel having entered the tie as 1/4 favourites to progress and they now face an uphill battle to wrestle back control of said tie.
They enter this game in mixed form having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches, but they are coming off the back of a solid 2-0 win over Udinese at the weekend so that should hand them some much-needed encouragement.
Their record away from home hasn't been great of late having failed to win any of their last three on the road, but their most recent away game in Europe saw them thrash Lech Poznan 4-1 so they can take confidence from that.
Fiorentina must lean into their opponent's poor home record here and take the game to them from the off. While the challenge is tough, it's most definitely not insurmountable and an early goal could change everything.
