Genk and Ferencvarosi will clash in the Cegeka Arena for matchday three of the Europa Conference League with both sides battling it out for a spot in the knockout rounds of the competition after decent starts each.
Heading into this one, the two sit ahead of one of the favourites for the competition, Fiorentina, and they have so far acquired four points each with one win and one draw. This has seen Genk rack up a draw with Fiorentina after a 2-2 tie at home where Andi Zeqiri and Mark McKenzie scored a goal each before the club went on to defeat Cukaricki 2-0 away from home with a finish each from Bryan Heynen and Jo Paintsil.
Since that win, Genk have gone on to draw 1-1 with Gent and also defeat Mechelen 4-0 with a goal each from Heynen, Bilal El Khannouss, Christopher Bonsu Baah and Anouar ait El Hadj. Nevertheless, it still keeps the club down in fifth in the league after winning only four of the 11 matches so far. They have also drawn six others and lost the other match with 20 goals scored and 10 let in.
As for Ferencvárosi, as is usually the case, they sit first in the NB I with a one-point gap on Paksi FC in second and with a game in hand to play too. This sees the club with the best goalscoring record in the division with a stunning 30 goals scored from nine matches and 12 let in, which is also the best defensive record.
Ferencvarosi won their last outing against Diosgyuor where Endre Botka and Aleksandar Pesic netted a goal in either half of a 2-1 victory. Debrecen would grab a draw off them before that after Marquinhos netted in the first minute before Samy Mmaee scored a goal. Kristzian Lisztes was also sent off in the dying embers of the match.
