Bulgaria vs. Serbia Prediction, Tips & Stats

Serbia are looking to strengthen their lead at the top of Group I in EURO 2024 qualifying as they lock horns with Bulgaria on Tuesday.

Bulgaria currently sit bottom of qualifying Group G with one draw and two losses from their first three games of the campaign.

Bulgaria began with a 0-1 defeat at home to Montenegro followed by a 3-0 hammering in Hungary before a disappointing 1-1 draw with Lithuania last time out.

The draw with Lithuania was particularly frustrating as their opponents played the overwhelming majority of the game with ten men, but Bulgaria were unable to capitalise on the advantage and were held to just a point.

They now enter this game fairly out of form having won just one of their last five matches having also failed to win any of their last four.

Their form at home is slightly better having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five games on home soil but they've still lost two of their last three so there's little cause for encouragement.

Bulgaria have very little chance of even mounting a push to qualify for this group so they'll largely want to avoid finishing at the foot of the table.

They need to pick up some points, but it's unlikely they'll do that here against the group favourites.

Serbia currently sit top of qualifying Group G with two wins from two games so far.

Serbia kicked off their campaign with a cruising 2-0 win over Lithuania followed by another 2-0 win over Montenegro.

It's been a cruising start to life in Group G for a Serbia side that will be desperate to make the most out of a talented generation having exited at the group stage of the last two World Cups while failing to qualify for either of the last two European Championships.

In fact, they've never even qualified for this competition as an independent nation but looking at their group it definitely feels as though this will be the year they break that poor record.

They're coming into this game in impressive form having won each of their last four matches, and their form away from home has been great too having won their last four consecutive games on the road.

Serbia have a wealth of talent for a nation of their size and will very likely win this group.

As far as this game is concerned expect a fairly comfortable Serbia win.

For our Bulgaria vs. Serbia prediction, we're going for a 2-0 win for the away side.

          Bulgaria Team News

Georgi Rusev impressed off the bench last time out and is pushing to start here with Kiril Despodov the likely man to drop out should Rusev be called upon.

Ivan Dyulgerov replaced Daniel Naumov in goal against Lithuania and it's expected that the former will keep his place in the XI here.

          Serbia Team News

Neither Aleksandar Mitrović, Luka Jović and Dušan Vlahović are part of this squad having been left out for various reasons, so the goalscoring burden falls on Dejan Joveljić and Đorđe Jovanović.

Dušan Tadić, Filip Kostić and Sergej Milinković-Savić are all part of this squad and will have a big part to play in the absence of the three star forwards.

Captain Tadić will earn his 98th cap if selected as he closes in on a century of appearances for his nation.
