Two sides who will be desperate to progress to the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup lock horns this week as Australia take on Egypt in the round of 32.
Australia finished 2nd in Group D with four points, following a win over Turkey (2-2), a defeat to the USA (2-0) and a draw with Paraguay (0-0).
The Aussies will already deem this World Cup a major success after finishing 2nd in their ground, which is arguably an over performance, and they'll feel as though they have a very good chance to win a knockout game at a World Cup for the first time in their history.
Their form heading into this game is poor on the whole, with three wins and five defeats from their last ten games.
Australia's games have a tendency to be low scoring affairs, with 70% of their last ten outings seeing under 2.5 goals scored.
Egypt, meanwhile, enter this game having finished 2nd in Group G, beating New Zealand (3-1) and drawing with Belgium (1-1) and Iran (1-1).
Egypt have performed well throughout this tournament and will feel as though they could have won their group, but they nevertheless have a very winnable round of 32 tie at hand and their fans will expect them to progress.
Form-wise, they've been better than Australia over the last ten games, winning four and losing two (excluding penalties) of their last ten.
Like Australia, their games aren't particularly filled with goals, with 60% of their last ten seeing under 2.5 goals scored.
There are only two places separating these two sides in the rankings but with Egypt being in slightly better form and having more reliable quality in the final third through Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, we fancy them to come out on top.
Australia 0-1 Egypt
