Hosts Canada will kick off their 2026 World Cup campaign with an interesting game against Bosnia-Herzegovina as they look to open up with three points.
Canada were drawn into Group B along with Bosnia, Qatar and Switzerland. Without getting carried away, they'll feel as though they have an excellent opportunity to reach the World Cup knockout stages on home soil given the quality within the group.
They come into this game in good shape, losing just one of their last ten games. They've beaten some very solid opponents within that ten-game stretch, beating the likes of Romania, Wales, Venezuela and Uzbekistan - all very credible opponents.
Canada appear well suited to tournament football as they pride themselves on their defensive solidity, keeping eight clean sheets in their last ten games, including a pair of very respectable 0-0 draws against Ecuador and Colombia.
Bosnia-Herzegovina, meanwhile, qualified for this World Cup in notorious fashion after denying Italy a third straight World Cup place.
The Balkan side are a solid team, but in the last four years the highest ranked side they've beaten (excluding penalty shootouts) is Romania. Besides Romania, all of their other wins since March 2022 have come against Liechtenstein, Cyprus, San Marino and Malta.
Bosnia have only managed to keep two clean sheets in their last ten games, against San Marino and North Macedonia. They will, then, likely have to score twice if they're to win this game.
Facing Canada on Canadian soil is a tougher proposition than it might seem on paper, and despite the fact Bosnia qualified in such dramatic fashion, we think they'll get off to a losing start here.
Canada 1-0 Bosnia-Herzegovina
