England have the chance to mathematically seal their place at the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday night as they take on Latvia in World Cup qualifying.
- Date: 14/10/2025
- Kick-off: 7:45 pm
- Location: Daugava National Stadium, Riga
England have, as usual, stormed through qualifying with five wins from five games, with 13 goals scored and none conceded. The Three Lions got off to a rocky start under Thomas Tuchel, but a 5-0 win away in Serbia last month has been cited by many as a turning point under the German, with the team now playing some excellent football.
England enter this game off the back of a 3-0 win over Wales, where Tuchel's side were three goals up inside 20 minutes. That result means England have now scored eight goals in their last two games, and they'll be looking to add more to that tally, while also extending their winning streak of three matches.
Latvia, meanwhile, sit 4th in qualifying group K with five points from five games. The Eastern Europeans come into this game out of form, with no wins in their last six games, losing three of those. Their only win in this qualification campaign was a 1-0 victory away at Andorra, but they drew the reverse fixture 2-2, which happens to be their most recent outing.
When Latvia faced England at Wembley, England were dominant, hogging 74% of the possession and recording 27 shots on goal (to Latvia's three), winning the game 3-0. It's hard to see anything other than an England win here, and the Three Lions will be desperate to maintain their clean sheet record in qualifying. Harry Kane has four goals in qualifying and will fancy himself to add to his tally, with Thomas Tuchel indicating he'll be fit to start.
