          Footy Accumulators Prediction

Both Slovenia and Serbia showed signs in their respective group games, that they certainly will be no pushovers for the rest of the tournament. The state of play as it stands, means that if Slovenia were to beat Serbia, they could potentially secure themselves one of the best third-placed finishes after the final group game.

In their opening game against Denmark, Slovenia were well below par in terms of performance against the Danes and there were little signs to suggest that would change, despite an impressive display from Benjamin Sesko. The RB Leipzig striker caused problems for the Danish defence throughout with his work rate and was unlucky not to score twice with two long-range efforts which struck the woodwork.

Slovenia stepped up the intensity in the second half against Denmark and one could argue they could have potentially secured three points, hadn’t their first-half display been lacklustre. Slovenia created two big chances against Denmark and were more deserving of their point gained.

Serbia will more than likely be afforded more clear-cut opportunities than the ones they created against England. Once England had taken the lead, the Serbians were allowed to grow into the game and caused England more problems. Serbia’s threats for this game against Slovenia will be from out wide.

The delivery of crosses from the likes of Filip Kostic and Andrija Zivkovic will be vital as they look to provide service to the strike partnership of Dusan Vlahovic and Aleksander Mitrovic.

For this game, we are predicting a 1-1 draw between the two sides. Serbia are expected to perform better in fashioning chances against a resilient Slovenian side.

Slovenia vs Serbia: Preview, Prediction & Betting Tips

Slovenia takes on Serbia in the second group game of Group C as both sides are eager for points in the race for qualification. Slovenia is currently third in the group after the first group game, where as Serbia are currently bottom following their defeat to England.

          • Kick-Off: 2 PM
          • Location: Allianz Arena
          • Date: 20/06/2024

Slovenia has a limited history in the European Championship, having only appeared once in the tournament’s history in 2000. Following the game against Denmark, they have now made it two appearances in the famous competition. In their only appearance, Slovenia finished bottom of their group following a 0-0 draw against Norway. Zlatko Zahovic scored three goals of Slovenia’s four goals in that tournament.

As an independent nation, Euro 2024 will mark the first European Championships for which Serbia have qualified. In their last three international tournaments as an independent nation, Serbia had failed to qualify anything further than the group stage phase. The two sides previously met in the UEFA Nations League two years ago and it finished 2-2 between the two teams.

          Recent Form

Slovenia had a tremendous qualifying campaign which saw them qualify for only their second European Championship. Slovenia finished on 22 points, level with Denmark who coincidentally faced Slovenia in the opening group game. Slovenia won seven, drawn once and only lost twice from their ten group games. Slovenia scored 20 goals in the group and conceded only nine which was the best record in Qualification Group H.

Benjamin Sesko provided himself as a key figure throughout qualification. The RB Leipzig striker, who had been of much transfer speculation throughout the summer, scored five goals in qualifying, averaging 0.6 goals per game. Sesko also provided a scoring rate of a goal every 151 minutes for his national side in qualification.

Following the draw against Denmark, Slovenia are in quite impressive form and are unbeaten in their last five international games. Slovenia have won twice and drawn three in their last five games – their last defeat came against Denmark in what turned out to be the deciding game in the qualification group.

The recent meetings between the two sides suggest a closely contested affair. Slovenia and Serbia have faced each other only four times in the last 20 years, with both sides winning a game each – the two remaining games ended in a draw. Serbia beat Slovenia 4-1 in the UEFA Nations League in 2022.

Serbia managed to qualify for the European Championships by finishing second in their group. Serbia manager Dragan Stojkovic managed his side to finish four points behind Hungary and three points ahead of Montenegro. Serbia scored 15 goals in qualifying and conceded nine in total.

Following their opening game defeat against England, Serbia’s form over the last five games is considered below average. Serbia have won two from their last five international games – both of those victories have come away from home. Their last home victory was a 3-1 win over Montenegro which effectively secured their qualification to this summer’s tournament.

Serbia’s chances will heavily rely on Dusan Vlahovic’s performances. The Juventus striker was the club’s top scorer in Serie A, even though his form is less than desirable with one goal in five appearances. Vlahovic scored three goals in qualifying in five games, scoring every 80 minutes played.

Aleksander Mitrovic enjoyed a wonderful debut season at Al-Hilal. The former Newcastle striker scored 28 league goals and is also the record goal scorer for the national side with 58 goals in 92 appearances. Mitrovic was Serbia’s top soccer in qualifying with five goals from seven appearances – with a goal every 119 minutes.
