Switzerland vs Italy Prediction

This Round of 16 clash could see the first extra-time action at the 2024 European Championships. Both Gianluca Scamacca and Federico Chiesa are among likely goalscorers, though Breel Embolo is also expected to find the back of the net for Switzerland. As for discipline, this game could get feisty, with Nicolo Barella and Lorenzo Pellegrini likely to pick up a card or two fouls. Italy 1 - 1 Switzerland.

The reigning European Champions Italy look to dispatch Denmark in the Round of 16 to book their spot in the quarter-finals as they look to win back-to-back Championships.

Switzerland finished second in Group A after three games. In three games, Switzerland has picked up one win and two draws which leaves them on five points, two points above Hungary.

The Swiss have made it past the Round of 16 once, the last time in 2021. Switzerland faced then-World Champions France in the Round of 16 who after a 3 - 3 draw, Switzerland beat France 5 - 4 on penalties.

Italy only finished second in Group B. In three games, Italy picked up one win, one draw, and one loss, leaving them on four points, just two points above Croatia but five points behind Spain.

The Azzurri usually have no problems at the Round of 16 stage, having made at least the Quarter-finals in every European Championships since 2004, where they were eliminated at the Group Stage.

Italy and Switzerland have met 60 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in an international friendly back in 1911.
