10 Outsiders Who Could Make England's Euro 2021 Squad

Latest News

Calvert-Lewin Euro 2021 Odds

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been the standout English player in the Premier League so far this season and has played the starring role in the Toffees' brilliant start to the campaign, scoring a sensational nine goals in six games.

This week, Gareth Southgate handed the Everton frontman his first England call-up, on the back of his recent sensational goalscoring streak, and Calvert-Lewin could soon receive a much-deserved cap.

Right now, odds for Calvert-Lewin to make the Euro 2021 squad is EVENS, but expect these odds to be slashed if the striker's form continues.

Eric Dier Euro 2021 Odds

A player Gareth Southgate often calls upon thanks to his versatility and full-blooded attitude is Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier. Despite not always being the first choice by many England fans, Dier has been present at the last two major tournaments, scoring in the last Euro's and famously firing home the winning penalty in the penalty shootout against Colombia at the 2018 World Cup.

The Spurs man has become a regular under Jose Mourinho's revitalised reign in north London, playing predominately at centre-back, and this versatility between defence and midfield is likely to get him in the squad.

Odds of Dier making the Euro 2021 squad sit at 5/4.

Tyrone Mings Euro 2021 odds

Even though he was part of an Aston Villa defence that shipped 67 goals last season, Tyrone Mings’ individual performances have been rewarded with call-ups to the four previous England squads.

Villa have made a much more impressive start to the season this time around though, with two clean sheets from their opening two fixtures. Mings currently has two caps to his name and England recorded clean sheets in both those games, a 6-0 win in Bulgaria and a 4-0 success in Kosovo.

If Villa continue their positive form then Mings' odds of 7/4 are likely to be slashed nearer the summer.

Danny Ings Euro 2021 odds

The remarkable renaissance of Danny Ings’ career saw the Southampton forward cap off a fantastic scoring season with 25 goals in all competitions by receiving an England call-up for the first set of international fixtures of the season.

Ings' cameo against Iceland was his first international appearance since his debut in 2015 against Lithuania, and he is in the squad again for the October internationals. The Englishman has picked up where he left off last season, with three goals in three games for Southampton and if his record continues, he is a gimme in the England setup.

Ings' odds to make the Euro 2021 squad are now priced at a high 3/1, despite being the highest-scoring active Englishman around, as Jamie Vardy has retired from international duty.

Kieran Trippier Euro 2021 odds

Another one of Gareth Southgate’s trusted regulars is Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier. The former Spurs right-back has been ever-present for club and country in the last three years, but was used in an unfamiliar left-back role for both internationals against Iceland and Denmark, due to injuries.

Despite the incredible amount of unrivalled quality in the right-back areas at England’s disposal, Trippier has continued to be selected, largely down to his form from the 2018 World Cup and how he fits into Southgate's system.

Trippier is a low 5/6 to make the Euro 2021 squad, but a starting position might not be on the cards anymore.

Jude Bellingham Euro 2021 odds

After his high-profile switch from Birmingham City to Borussia Dortmund, 17-year-old Jude Bellingham will hope his career can take the same sort of projection Jadon Sancho’s did after he made the move to German football.

The signs have been good so far as Bellingham has featured in all of Dortmund’s games this season and he was impressive in their league opener against Borussia Monchengladbach, registering an assist.

For now, Bellingham remains in the Young Lions ranks, but a move to the senior setup will surely follow if he continues to impress as a regular for Dortmund.

Odds for Bellingham to make the Euro 2021 squad are now a high 4/1.

Conor Coady Euro 2021 Odds

A player who, until recently, had gone under the radar in terms of international recognition, was Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper Conor Coady. The Liverpool-born defender has been ever-present in the last two Premier League seasons as Wolves finished seventh on both occasions.

Coady also played every minute in their run to the Europa League quarter-finals, earning him a place in the competition’s Team of the Season. It seems he has nailed down a place in the England setup for the foreseeable future after making his debut, especially as options at centre-back very slim for Southgate.

Odds for Coady to make the Euro 2021 squad are at a high 5/1.

Tariq Lamptey Euro 2021 Odds

Competition may be stern to earn the number two jersey for England at the moment with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Trippier, just to name a few, all high in the pecking order.

However, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey has outperformed all of them so far in the early stages of the season and is doing his bit to stake a claim of being in Gareth Southgate’s plans next summer. The Seagulls right-back has two assists already this season, whilst he has also earned two penalties for the club during the early stages of the league campaign.

Odds for Lamptey to make the Euro 2021 squad are at 6/1.

Mason Holgate Euro 2021 Odds

Mason Holgate was arguably the best player during the torrid end of Marco Silva's Everton campaign but has found minutes limited under Carlo Ancelotti’s.

Holgate is currently injured and has missed the start of the campaign, but despite Everton’s incredible start, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four games, perhaps allowing the 23-year-old to come in when fit.

It is tough to see how Holgate makes his way into the England squad anytime soon, especially as he struggles to keep fellow Englishman Michael Keane out the squad - Holgate is now priced at 8/1 to make the England Euro 2021 squad.

Ollie Watkins Euro 2021 Odds

A real wildcard pick for the next summer’s squad could be Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. The ex-Brentford striker has recently moved to the Premier League outfit after scoring 26 goals in the Bees' promotion fight of the Championship last season.

Odds have already been cut from 18/1 to 12/1 Watkins' Euro 2021 involvement, having bagged a hat-trick against Liverpool in the thrilling 7-2 victory.

Now, with competition from Calvert-Lewin, Ings and Abraham, Watkins must continue this form to make his way into the squad, although, he remains on the radar of Southgate.
