Last season Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski managed 41 Bundesliga goals in 29 league games, which was a new German top-flight record in an 18 team format. The Polish striker has started life well this season, managing two goals in his first two matches of the campaign against Koln and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Bayern man has only failed to win this individual accolade once since the start of the 2015/16 season, of which Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the only break in the chain in the 2016/17 for Borussia Dortmund. If Lewandowski wins the Golden Boot this season then it will be the seventh time which he has managed it, which would be a joint record held with Gerd Muller. The 33-year-old former Lech Poznan striker has scored 401 goals in 519 appearances for Dortmund and Bayern, winning the Golden Boot at both clubs.
