4 Tips for Thursday’s Europa League & Europa Conference League Action - 5/5/22

West Ham has it all to do in Germany on Thursday evening, as they look to turn around a 2-1 deficit against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht produced another remarkable performance away from home in the Europa League. After the incredible 3-2 win at Nou Camp to knock out Barcelona in the quarter-final, Frankfurt managed an impressive 2-1 win at the London Stadium.

Eintracht will be looking to get the job done and reach their first European final since 1980.

West Ham will be looking at their impressive European away record for a turnaround in Germany on Thursday. The Hammers have only lost one game away in Europe all season and last time out, thrashed French giants, Lyon, 3-0. Jarrod Bowen will be one of West Ham’s key men, having achieved a shot on target in six of his last seven games.

Bowen will be a lively man in Germany, with the former Hull City starman likely to be firing shots at goal to get the Hammers to Seville.

Rangers will fancy their chances of making it another memorable night at Ibrox, only trailing RB Leipzig 1-0 after the first leg.

Rangers produced an impressive performance in East Germany last time out, losing only to a late strike from former Manchester City player, Angelino.

Rangers, despite playing an understrength side, dominated Celtic in the Old Firm and was unlucky not to get all three points. The Gers' home form in Europe could inspire the Scottish club to their first European final since 2008, losing just one in seven at Ibrox this season.

RB Leipzig, a club which was formed just 13 years ago, is in their second European semi-final and will look to make the giant step to their first-ever final. If the Red Bulls are going to get through, it will be thanks to the work of star striker, Christopher Nkunku, who has scored 31 goals in all competitions so far this season.

Leipzig will most likely score in this game, but Rangers could produce a mighty performance to at least send it to extra time.

A sold-out Stade Velodrome will greet the two teams on Thursday evening, as Marseille will look to turn it around against Feyenoord.

Marseille shot themselves in the foot last week in the Netherlands. After coming back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2 at half time, Marseille lasted just 13 seconds in the second half as they ended up losing the first leg 3-2.

Les Bleus will be reliant on Dimitri Payet, whose wonder strike against PAOK helped Marseille to the semis. The Frenchman will hope to help Marseille become the first team to reach all three major European finals.

Feyenoord has been in this competition since the second qualifying round all the way back in July. The Dutch side will look to their impressive away record in the competition in the hope to make the final in Albania, having not lost away since the final qualifying round in August.

This match has a Payet inspired performance written over it, so expect the former West Ham playmaker to score in the South of France.

It’s all square as we head to the Stadio Olympico, as Jose Mourinho’s Roma faces off against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City.

Roma has had a rollercoaster journey in the Europa Conference League this season. From losing 6-1 to Bodo/Glimt in the group stage to making it to the semi-final, Jose Mourinho will look to be the first manager to win all three major European competitions.

Tammy Abraham will be the main man upfront and will want a repeat performance of Roma’s home quarter-final, where he opened the scoring in a 4-0 thrashing of Bodo/Glimt.

Brendan Rogers may not have known what the Europa Conference League was when his side dropped into in December, but you can’t bet against his desire to now win Leicester’s first piece of European silverware. Roma will provide a stiff challenge, but the Foxes' fight was shown in their quarter-final, where they come from behind to win 2-1 in Eindhoven.

Tammy Abraham is a good shout to open the scoring in the Eternal city, but the result after that could go either way.
