It’s been a steady return to the Championship for Watford, after a win and a draw in their opening two games. The Hornets are one of the favourites to gain promotion back to the Premier League, and with the players at their disposal its understandable why. They come up against a Luton team who have had a good start to the season themselves, winning their opening two league games.
After a 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United in Carabao Cup, it may be time for Luton’s impressive start to come to an end. Nathan Jones wringed in the changes for the midweek tie, with nine changes to the side. Likewise, Vladimir Ivić made wholesale changes to Watford’s midweek cup tie – a 3-1 away defeat to Newport County – showing that Watford’s sights are set on gaining promotion back to the top tier.
The home side should have too much quality in their side for Luton in Saturday’s early kick-off though, with the likes of Joao Pedro, Christian Kabasele and Tom Cleverly in their ranks. Not to mention Ismaila Sarr and Troy Deeney, who could return from injury soon. We’ve gone for Glenn Murray to score in a Watford win, with odds of 2/1. The veteran striker has played in both league games for Ivic’s side so far, and could get off the mark against the Hatters in the competition that he scored 23 goals in last time he was in it, for Brighton in 2017.
