5 Nations League Goalscorer Tips to Watch This Weekend - Matchday 3

Norway vs Romania - Erling Haaland

Norway have lost just once since March 2019 (11 matches), including two draws against this weekend’s opponents, Romania. During that time, we have seen the rise of Erling Haaland, who has shocked the world with his clinical finishing and is now one of the top strikers on the planet at just 20 years old.

Haaland scored 28 goals in 22 games for RB Salzburg, before making the January switch to Borussia Dortmund, where he continued his form to register 21 goals in 23 games. The striker has also scored three goals in his four international appearances for Norway and will be looking to add to his tally once again.

The two sides have drawn their last three meetings with one another, and this could be a close encounter once again, however, the emergence of Haaland has strengthened Stefan Johansen’s side significantly.

Republic of Ireland vs Wales – Kieffer Moore

The Republic of Ireland will take on Wales in Dublin and will be looking to bounce back from defeat in their last home game, where they lost 1-0 at home to Finland.

Meanwhile, Wales are top of the group after two narrow 1-0 victories in their opening Nations League fixtures. Kieffer Moore has led the line in both of Wales’ games and scored the winner against Finland for Ryan Giggs’ side, however, the Dragons are without Gareth Bale.

With huge boots to fill, Moore will need to step up and continue his form, as he has seven goals in his last 11 games for club and country. Now, no doubt all eyes will be on on the Cardiff City man, from a Welsh perspective.

Moore is priced at 11/2 score first, whilst the Wales international is also priced at 5/2 to bag anytime.

Finland vs Bulgaria - Teemu Pukki

Finland have been on either side of 1-0 results in their opening two matches, whilst Bulgaria are bottom of the group having drawn with the Republic of Ireland before losing to Wales.

Teemu Pukki started the 2019/20 season in incredible form and caught the eye of many top clubs, but Pukki cooled off and struggled thereafter. Whilst his form may have dipped at club level, Pukki is still the main man for Finland, scoring 10 in his last 10 games.

Bulgaria, on the other hand, are struggling for form, having won just one of their last 15 games and the Norwich City man will be licking his lips at the thought of attacking their wary defence.

Montenegro vs Azerbaijan – Stevan Jovetic

Montenegro have won both of their opening fixtures in the Nations League and are top of their group, whereas Azerbaijan bounced back from defeat to Luxembourg to beat Cyprus in their last Nations League match.

Stevan Jovetic is Montenegro’s top scorer of all-time with 26 goals in 53 games, whilst the striker also bagged twice in their recent victory over Cyprus.

The ex-Manchester City man has yet to open his account for the 2020/21 season for Monaco, but Jovetic will remain the focal point of any attack his country can muster.

Bosnia and Herzegovina vs Netherlands – Edin Dzeko

Edin Dzeko will captain his country against the Netherlands this weekend, as the Roma star continues his exceptional goalscoring record.

Bosnia started their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw away at Italy where Dzeko scored his 59th goal for his country.

The Netherlands have been known for their inconsistency over the last few years and are no different in their recent matches, drawing with Northern Ireland and struggling to beat Belarus, but also beating Germany 4-2.

This game is ultimately dependant on which side Frank de Boer puts forth, and any below-par performance will likely be taken advantage of by both Bosnia and Dzeko.
