5 Premier League Tips to Watch This Weekend - Gameweek 2

Latest News

Everton vs West Brom: Everton to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1

Everton return to Goodison Park for their first home fixture of the new Premier League season to face newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion off the back of an eye-catching 1-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.

The Toffees have an excellent record against their the Baggies, having lost just one of their last 1, whilst their manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has never been defeated against a newly-promoted side from 15 attempts (11W, 4D).

The Italian manager has brought stability, creativity and balance to his Everton side as they have become a team accustomed to seeing out games well, shown by the fact three of their last four Premier League wins have been by a 1-0 scoreline and the other being 2-1 win.

Previously, this clash has been a low-scoring fixture as 14 of the last 16 meetings ended with under 3.5 goals so we are backing Everton to clinch a low scoring victory here, a 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 win for the Toffees is priced at 7/4 - click here to claim this bet.

Leeds vs Fulham: Leeds to win and over 2.5 goals

Whilst West Brom face Everton, the other two newly-promoted sides face each other in this weekend’s sole 3pm Saturday kick off at Elland Road, as the Championship winners, Leeds United, face the play-off champions, Fulham.

The two sides had polarising opening performances, despite both coming away without a point. Leeds certainly gained plaudits far and wide for their impressive performance at Anfield in a 4-3 defeat to the champions, in a game which they could have snatched a point.

At the same time, Fulham slumped to a pretty disappointing 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at Craven Cottage. That result means Fulham have now lost 15 of their last 19 Premier League games stretching back to their previous campaign in the top flight in 2018-19 which saw them relegated.

Both sides’ opening matches last week saw over 2.5 goals scored and both encounters in the Championship last season between the two produced over 2.5 goals as well while the tie at Elland Road ended in a 3-0 success for Leeds. Therefore we are backing Leeds to win this one and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the game, priced at 6/4 with Sky Bet - click here to claim this bet.

Arsenal vs West Ham: Arsenal to score 3+ goals

FA Cup winners Arsenal host fellow London side West Ham United at the Emirates on Saturday night, as the Gunners look to build on a very impressive start against Fulham last weekend.

The omens look good for Arsenal who have an imperious form in the month of September in recent years, as they are unbeaten in their last 25 games played in the month, winning 20. At the same time, West Ham’s defence is looking increasingly suspect following a 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle United last week and Arsenal’s attack prospering after netting three at Fulham, expect the Gunners to get a few more this time around.

Since 2011, Arsenal have scored three or more against West Ham on 12 occasions while also registering six wins by three or more goals in this time. Arsenal to win 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 looks decent value at 4/1 but we’re tipping the hosts to score 3+ goals, priced at 7/4 - click here to claim this bet!

Newcastle vs Brighton: Under 1.5 goals

Two sides both enjoying a fourth consecutive season in the top-flight face off at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, as the two aim to continue to consolidate their status as Premier League clubs.

Don’t expect a classic here though, only one of the last six meetings between the sides have seen over 1.5 goals (a 1-1 draw in April 2019) while three of the six have ended 0-0 including the two fixtures last season. Only Crystal Palace, Watford and Norwich city scored fewer league goals than Newcastle and Brighton last season.

The Seagulls were very wasteful against Chelsea in their 3-1 defeat on Monday with Lewis Dunk and Neal Maupay both squandering serious chances. The Magpies have increased their attacking power 3-fold with the additions of Jeff Hendrick, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser, who all both opened their goalscoring charts in their debut games this past week.

Brighton should offer a sterner test for Newcastle’s attack, however, as out of all the sides in the bottom half last season, only Crystal Palace conceded fewer goals than the side from the Amex.

Under 1.5 goals in this one is available at odds of 7/4 - click here to claim this bet.

Chelsea v Liverpool: Salah to have 2+ shots on target

Mohamed Salah returns to his former club once again this weekend, fresh off the back of an opening day hat-trick against Leeds, in a game where he registered an incredible nine shots in the match.

The unselfish attacking partners of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane alongside him means Salah is usually the man with the best openings in front of goal. The Egyptian attempted the most shots in the Premier League last season, 132 in 33 starts, which is 14 more than Wolves’ Raul Jimenez in second, and 31 more than Gabriel Jesus in third.

Chelsea also looked vulnerable in defence against Brighton last week, allowing 13 shots on their goal despite recording a 3-1 victory. Salah to repeat last week’s feat with a hat-trick is priced at 33/1, but we’re backing him to have 2+ shots on target at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, available at odds of 11/10 with Sky Bet - click here to claim.

Salah also has five goals against Chelsea from his time at Basel and Liverpool down the years, including a sensational strike two seasons ago.
