Are Real Madrid the Team to Look Out for in Future Years if They Sign Mbappe?

Everyone has heard of the Galácticos. The likes of David Beckham, Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane defined an era for Real Madrid where everyone wanted to play for them and everyone wanted to be them.

Just over 20 years and the new Galáctico era could be about to start. With Kylian Mbappe looking close to a move to the Bernabeu, would this make Real Madrid an unstoppable force?

Ever since Mbappe made his debut at Monaco as a 16-year-old in 2016, the sky has been the limit for the Frenchman. In his first full season for the side from the principality, Mbappe and his Monaco side stormed the league. Losing just three games all season, Monaco won their eighth league title, beating nearest challengers PSG by eight points.

Mbappe’s stats ever since the title-winning season with Monaco has been astonishing. Contributing 281 goals in 255 club games, Mbappe has won countless league titles and also triumphed on the world stage, winning the 2018 world cup with Les Bleus.

Real Madrid without Mbappe this season has been thriving on the pitch. Another Champions League quarter-final is still to play and they are also 12 points clear of arch-rivals Barcelona in La Liga - the eague title looks all but assured.

Mbappe’s arrival could usher in a new era of dominance for Los Blancos in Spain. The young talent emerging from the Spanish capital shows that Real wouldn’t just be reliant on Mbappe.

Whilst the future will of course be without some of the familiar faces at the Bernabeu, the old guard this season is showing they’ve got a lot to offer. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are still the most controlled midfield unit in La Liga and David Alaba has been a key signing in the league’s second-best defence.

Karim Benzema has undoubtedly been the shining veteran for Los Blancos this season, however. Having shown his great talent since a move from Lyon in 2009 the Frenchman is having one of his greatest seasons for the club. Averaging a goal contribution every 63 minutes, Benzema is highlighting that the current crop will be able to contribute as the youth seeps through.

The front line is where Real Madrid’s talented youth look most likely to flourish. Mbappe would eventually join a front three alongside Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo.

Vinicius Jnr has been a key member of the Real side this season. Featuring predominantly as a left forward, the Brazilan has not been afraid to shoot, averaging 2.4 shots per game to help him to 14 league goals so far this season.

Rodrygo has been a player who has shown glimpses of his star quality which will grace Spain in the years to come. These have mainly come in the Champions League, scoring a hat-trick against Galatasary and the winner at the San Siro this season. Averaging 1.1 dribbles in this season's Champions League, his quick feet will likely be the reason he lives up to his €45 million price tag.

Federico Valverde looks like being the answer as well to when Modric and Kroos eventually leave Madrid. Averaging 1.2 tackles per game in La Liga this season, Valverde’s strength will be vital in stopping team’s punishing Real in years to come.

The importance of youth has already been seen with another Spanish giant in the form of Barcelona. Due to the infamous financial crisis which struck Barac, the Catalan side were forced to trust in the prodigies at La Masia.

This has so far proved fruitful for Xavi, with the likes of Pedri, Gavi and Ansu Fati giving the former Barcelona midfield a strong position to build on. This trust has been fruitful on the pitch being unbeaten in 14 league games, including a 4-0 El Classico triumph.

The tussle between the two will be one for the ages. Real’s promising youth as well as their current crop of experienced players do give the Madrid side the upper hand. The future in Spain looks like one which Los Blancos could possibly dominate.
