Horses to Watch at Cheltenham
The Cheltenham Festival kicks off with the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, as Old Park Star bids to follow in the footsteps of Constitution Hill by winning the race for Nicky Henderson.
Day One’s feature sees a fascinating renewal of the Champion Hurdle, with Lossiemouth, The New Lion, and Brighterdaysahead set to battle for the top title in the two-mile hurdle division.
Paul Nicholls’ best chance of a winner at the Festival runs in the Turners Novices’ Hurdle on day two, with No Drama This End likely to be a warm favorite. The Champion Chase is likely to be all about Majborough, who bids to avenge his defeat in last year’s Arkle.
Five graded races are run on day three of the Festival, headlined by the Ryanair Chase. Fact To File will be hard to beat after winning the race 12 months ago, while Teahupoo is favoured in the Stayers’ Hurdle to give the Irish a St. Patrick’s Day to remember at Cheltenham.
The final day of the Festival is all about the Gold Cup, with newcomers to the race such as The Jukebox Man, Jango Baie, and Gaelic Warrior bidding to dethrone Inothewayurthinkin.
A vintage renewal of the race also includes Welsh Grand National winner Haiti Couleurs and fascinating outsiders Firefox and Envoi Allen.
