With the World Cup taking on its biggest expansion in years, there are so many games to look forward to during the group stage. From the big teams that could go all the way through to the final, to the nations participating in their first-ever World Cup, the group stage of the 2026 World Cup has some mouthwatering fixtures.
Here is a selection of the matches we are particularly looking forward to watching...
Brazil vs Morocco - 13/06/2026
It's always exciting to see how Brazil perform in their opening match at the World Cup. While not a great deal is expected of Canarinho due to their distinctly average qualifying campaign, you'd never rule them out completely. Morocco are packed with experience and talent, and this opening game should prove to be very open and end-to-end. Brazil have won the World Cup on five occasions, but it's been over 20-years since their last success. Can Carlo Ancelotti deliver another title?
France vs Senegal- 16/06/2026
Those of us of a certain age will remember just what happened the last time these two nations went head-to-head at the World Cup. Senegal stunned the World Cup champions in 2002, recording a 1-0 victory. France head into the 2026 World Cup as one of the big favourites to go all the way, but standing in their way on matchday one are the Africa Cup of Nations champions, Senegal, a team packed with talented Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 players.
