      Juventus vs PSV Prediction

For this game, we are not looking at anything past a home for Juventus; however, PSV will be expected to make proceedings difficult based on their impressive start to the season.

Juventus are in imperious home form, with the Old Lady unbeaten on home soil since February of this year. Juventus have no losses in four, with no goals conceded. Thiago Motta's side has kept a clean sheet in four of their previous five home fixtures while recording three wins from their last five.

PSV won't be easy opponents for Juventus, as the away side are top of the Eredivisie with five wins from five and 20 goals scored. In retrospect, the level of the opposition could hinder PSV once they face someone from Serie A, for example.

For these reasons, we are leaning towards a Juventus home win by a margin of two goals. So we will say 2-0 to Juventus. Juventus 2-0 PSV.

Juventus vs PSV Preview & Prediction

Europe’s Elite competition resumes again this week for another year of highs and lows as teams battle it out to lift the trophy in Munich at the end of the season. Thiago Motta will take charge of his first UEFA Champions League game as his Juventus side host PSV in Turin.

      Date: 17/09/2024
      Location: Allianz Stadium
      Kick-Off: 5.45 pm

The new UEFA Champions League format provides an exciting concept for this season's competition. The competition is now in a 36-team format, in which the top eight clubs automatically qualify for the knockout phase, with teams ranked from ninth to 24th competing in a two-legged play-off fixture to be second-seeded and face the teams already qualified. From there, the competition will resume with the normal knockout phase from previous years. Each team is now required to play eight games instead of six.

Juventus are Italy’s second most successful team in European Football, only behind AC Milan in the record books. The Old Lady are two-time European Cup winners, with their last triumph coming in 1996 when the Italian won at the Stadio Olimpico against AFC Ajax. Interestingly, the Old Lady have been runners-up on more than five occasions, including twice in the past decade, where they were defeated by Spanish opposition in Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively. Juventus qualified for the UEFA Champions League under Massimiliano Allegri, who guided them to a third-placed finish in his final season at the club. Juventus went for a younger change of direction in the summer by appointing Bologna manager Thiago Motta.

PSV Eindhoven are playing Champions League Football again this season, and the Dutch side has a history in this competition. PSV were winners of the tournament in 1988, after a penalty shootout win over Benfica in the final. Since then, their best finish has been a semi-final place in 2005, where they were defeated by eventual runners-up AC Milan. That PSV side is most notable for boasting the likes of former Manchester United player Park Ji-Sung within their squad.

      Where to Watch

The game will be shown on TNT Sports 2.
