Real Madrid vs AC Milan Prediction

Real Madrid should have the edge against AC Milan as the two European Giants face off at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have an impressive home record, having only lost once at home this season, with their most recent defeat against Barcelona in the El Classico. Los Blancos have won five of the last six home games at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the hosts also unbeaten in all of their home European games this season.
Real Madrid have only lost once in their previous four meetings with AC Milan.

The visitors don't have a particularly excellent away record to boast about this season, having only won twice in their last five away fixtures, and interestingly, they have yet to win on their travels in this competition since their only away game was a 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

That being said, we can only expect a Real Madrid win here against an AC Milan side struggling for any consistency away from home. We predict a 2-0 win for Los Blancos against Carlo Ancelotti’s former side for these reasons.

          Real Madrid 2-0 AC Milan.

Real Madrid vs AC Milan Preview & Prediction

Two of Europe’s premier clubs face off at the Santiago Bernabeu, as current European champions Real Madrid host AC Milan, who have not won the competition since 2007.

          Date: 05/11/2024
          Location: Santiago Bernabeu
          Kick-Off: 8 pm

This fixture provides a heritage of European excellence as this pits two sides who have won a combined 22 European Cups between them, Real Madrid with 15 and AC Milan with seven. This will be the first meeting in this competition for 14 years, which will undoubtedly provide some fascination heading into this tie.

Real Madrid have been second best in La Liga this season, as a rampant Barcelona side led by Hansi Flick look set to snatch the league title from the hands of Los Blancos this season. In the league, Real Madrid have won seven of their first 11 games whilst drawing three times and losing once to Barcelona in the El Classico. They have made a decent start to the league phase in the Champions League with two wins and one draw from their opening three games. Interestingly, both of Real Madrid’s victories in this competition so far this season have come against German opposition.

As for AC Milan, the visitors to Madrid on Tuesday are struggling in the league compared to their previous standing last season. The Rossoneri are seventh in the league this season after ten games played and have already lost three games, trailing fourth-placed Fiorentina by five points and are seven points behind local rivals Inter Milan. In the UEFA Champions League, the visitors have won once (Club Brugge) and lost twice (Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen) in their opening three games.

          Where to watch

          Form Guide

The recent history between the two teams suggests an even game despite the apparent difference in quality between the two European giants. In the last 15 meetings between the two teams, Real Madrid won six, drew three, and lost the remaining six to AC Milan. The previous meeting in this competition occurred in 2010, where the game ended even in a 2-2 draw at the San Siro. A Filippo Inzaghi brace was thought to have won the game for the hosts; however, a 94th-minute Pedro Leon goal snatched the victory away from AC Milan.

Real Madrid have an impressive home record, having only lost once at home this season, with their most recent defeat against Barcelona in the El Classico. Los Blancos have won five of the last six home games at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the hosts also unbeaten in all of their home European games this season. At home this season, Real Madrid have averaged 2.5 points per game whilst having a record of at least 2.33 goals scored per game at home. Interestingly, Los Blancos have conceded more goals on average at home than away from home. However, Barcelona contributed a considerable portion of those goals.

In their most recent home fixture in the Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti’s side faced a rematch of last season’s opponents in the final, Borussia Dortmund. The German opposition took a two-goal advantage before half-time through Donyell Malen and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. In the second halfReal Madrid showed their class with a second-half hat-trick from Vinicius Jr and further goals from Lucas Vazquez and Antonio Rudiger to secure a 5-2 win over Borussia Dortmund.

AC Milan enters this game with somewhat respectable form overall, with three wins in their last five in all competitions. However, away from home, the Rossoneri, as mentioned, have only won twice in their previous five away fixtures, and interestingly, they have yet to win on their travels in this competition since their only away game was a 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. In the league, AC Milan have averaged 1.4 points away from home whilst also conceding 1.4 goals per game this season.

The visitors to the Santiago Bernabeu did manage a win in their most recent away fixture over Monza in a tightly contested fixture. AC Milan found the eventual winner through Tijjani Reijnders, with Monza posing a considerable threat, recording 12 shots and creating two big chances themselves. The win for AC Milan leaves them in seventh place in Serie A after ten games played.
