Championship Dual Forecast Odds

Norwich & Watford to Both Finish Top 2 - 12/1

Norwich and Watford are the bookmakers' favourites to be promoted to the Premier League in the 2022/23 season.

Dean Smith managed to earn promotion with Aston Villa in the 2018/19 season via the play-offs, whilst Norwich have won the division in each of the last two seasons that they have competed in it (2018/19 & 2020/21).

Meanwhile, Watford were runners-up back in 2020/21 and have retained key players from their Premier League squad, such as Emmanuel Dennis, Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro and will expect to be promoted back at the first time of asking.

Middlesbrough & Norwich to Both Finish Top 2 - 14/1

Middlesbrough will be looking to continue their progress under Chris Wilder in the forthcoming season, having missed out on the play-offs by five points last time out.

Wilder won promotion with Sheffield United to the Premier League in 2018/19 via a second-place finish and will be hoping to carry on the positive form he had at the Riverside last season, having won 16 and drawn seven of his 33 matches in charge, including memorable victories over Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.

As mentioned above, Norwich will be expected to go straight back up to the top-flight, especially if they manage to keep hold of the likes of Teemu Pukki, as the Finald international has scored 55 goals and created 14 assists in 84 Championship outings.

Norwich & Sheffield United to Both Finish Top 2 - 16/1

Sheffield United will be determined to bounce back from last season’s play-off semi-final disappointment having been defeated by Nottingham Forest on penalties.

The Blades form significantly improved under Paul Heckingbottom following the dismissal of Slavisa Jokanovic, and with many key players remaining at the club such as Sander Berge, Ollie McBurnie and more, as well as the signings of Ciaran Clark and Anel Ahmedhodzic arriving at Bramall Lane, there is room for optimism.

United managed to win 16 and draw seven of Heckingbottom’s 30 matches in charge last campaign and would’ve arguably been in the hunt for automatic promotion had the former Barnsley manager been in his current role from the start of last season.

Burnley & Norwich to Both Finish Top 2 - 18/1

Burnley are another side that will fancy their chances of earning promotion back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Vincent Kompany has made a number of astute additions to his squad, as well as retaining key players such as Josh Brownhill, Dwight McNeil, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Jay Rodriguez and Ashley Barnes. Their quality and experience could be a key factor in their promotion bid this season.

Middlesbrough & Watford to Both Finish Top 2 - 18/1

As mentioned above, Middlesbrough will be looking to build on last season’s positive form under Wilder in order to mount a promotion bid.

Boro last earned promotion to the Premier League under Aitor Karanka in 2015/16, whilst Wilder did it as recently as 2018/19 with Sheffield United. The former Blades manager has earned five promotions across his managerial career.

Meanwhile, Watford boss Rob Edwards may be relatively inexperienced as far as managers go, however, his only campaign as a Football League manager saw him earn promotion to League One with Forest Green last season.

Norwich & West Brom to Both Finish Top 2 - 18/1

Norwich will be determined to earn promotion from the Championship for a third time in a row, having done so back in 2018/19 and 2020/21.

Meanwhile, West Brom and Steve Bruce will also be hoping for a much-improved campaign having finished 10th last time out. Bruce has managed to earn four promotions in his career, twice with Birmingham City and twice with Hull City.

With the Baggies being in the Premier League as recently as 2020/21, whilst making some astute additions in the likes of Jedd Wallace, John Swift and Okay Yokuslu, on top of already having Karlan Grant, Jake Livermore, Callum Robinson, Matt Phillips and more amongst their ranks, perhaps they could be a promotion threat.
