Which Team Will Score the Most Goals in the Championship?

Norwich City will be looking for a repeat of their last two campaigns in the Championship 2018/19 and 2020/21 when they won the division, but particularly, the initial season where they finished as the league’s top scorers with 93 goals to their name.

Dean Smith will be hoping that the likes of Teemu Pukki can work his magic in England’s second-tier once again, having fired in 55 and created 14 assists in 84 Championship matches, alongside the likes of Milot Rashica, Todd Cantwell and Josh Sargent.

Watford certainly have the potential to be the Championship’s top scorers this season, as alongside Burnley, they scored 34 Premier League goals last season, the most of any relegated side, however, unlike the Clarets, they have retained a number of key players.

The Hornets could potentially line up with a front three of Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis next season, which is as good as any attacking selections in the division and on its day, is full of goals.

A new-look Burnley side will be hoping to hit the ground running under Vincent Kompany as the Clarets look to bounce straight back from their relegation from the Premier League.

Mainstays in Jay Rodriguez, Ashley Barnes, Dwight McNeil, and Johann Berg Gudmundsson have been retained, which could provide plenty of goals, but, they will have to fill the deficit left by Maxwel Cornet, as the Ivorian fired in nine league goals last season and looks likely to leave to a Premier League side.

Chris Wilder’s Middlesbrough will be hoping to reach the play-offs having fallen short by five points last season.

Boro only scored 59 goals last time out, a tally that will need to be vastly improved upon, especially when taking into account that when Wilder was promoted to the Premier League with Sheffield United, they scored 78 times in 2018/19.

Wilder will be hoping that the Riverside club will utilise some of the £14m transfer fee that they received for Djed Spence’s move to Tottenham on some quality attacking recruitments.

Sheffield United only scored 63 goals in the Championship last season, however, they did drastically improve under Paul Heckingbottom following the dismissal of Slavisa Jokanovic.

The Blades haven’t made many signings for the upcoming campaign, with the likes of defensive duo Ciaran Clark and Ahmedhodzic joining the Bramall Lane club, whilst Lys Mousset, David McGoldrick and Oliver Burke all departed the club, perhaps meaning that they will be relying upon Billy Sharp, Oli McBurnie, Rhys Brewster and Daniel Jebbison to score their goals.

The final team on this list are potential outsiders with a great chance of achieving the feat of being the Championship’s top scorers if Steve Bruce can get the best out of his squad.

West Brom have had a superb summer transfer window so far, having signed the likes of Jayson Molumby, John Swift, Okay Yokuslu and Jedd Wallace, significantly enhancing the quality of their midfield options.

With the likes of Grady Diangana, Matt Phillips, Jake Livermore, Karlan Grant, Callum Robinson and Daryl Dike all at the club, perhaps they could be a great shout at 10/1 due to the proven quality in their side at this level.

Swift and Wallace alone had 42 goal contributions between themselves last season for Reading and Millwall.
