Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen: Betting Tips, Match Prediction & Preview

Bayern Munich host Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena this Sunday. Munich are within touching distance of the top of the league whereas Werder Bremen need a win to put even more distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

The top two of the Bundesliga are separated by just four points, making this weekend of extreme importance for Bayern. Werder Bremen also need all three points this season with the relegation zone looming but the top half of the table only four points away.

Bayern Munich currently sit second in the Bundesliga after 16 games. The Reds have 13 wins, two draws and one loss, leaving them on 41 points, only four points from Bayer Leverkusen and seven points above Stuttgart with a game in hand.

Thomas Tuchel has a number of injuries to manage this weekend. Bouna Sarr, Tarek Buchmann, Tom Hulsmann, Serge Gnabry and Daniel Peretz are all unavailable. To add to that, Noussair Mazraoui and Min-jae Kim have both been called up to their national teams.

Matthijs de Ligt is expected to be unavailable for Bayern's match with Bremen due to a capsule problem in his left knee. The 24-year-old Dutch defender has recently been linked with a potential summer move to Manchester United.

Ole Werner also has a couple of injuries. Leon Opitz, Amos Pieper and Milos Veljkovic are all unavailable. Naby Keita has been called up to his national team and both Leonardo Bittencourt and Marvin Ducksch are serving their yellow card suspensions.

Bayern Munich was served a massive shock in their trip to Eintracht Frankfurt. Omar Marmoush, Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe and Hugo Larsson all scored to give Frankfurt the early 3 - 0 lead, but Joshua Kimmich got Bayern on the scoresheet before halftime. However, another goal from Embimbe and a goal from Ansgar Knauff gave Frankfurt the 5 - 1 win.

In the last week of the Champions League Group Stage, Bayern took on Manchester United. Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the game in the 71st minute to give Bayern the 1 - 0 win.

Back in the Bundesliga, Bayern took on Stuttgart in a big game at the top of the table. Kane opened the scoring in the second minute to give Bayern the lead at halftime. Kane’s second then doubled the lead and a goal from Min-jae secured the 3 - 0 win.

All three goals in the game between Bayern and Wolfsburg came in the first half. Jamal Musiala and Kane both scored after the 30-minute mark, but Maximilian Arnold scored in the added time of the first half. Despite having 21 shots with eight on target, Bayern were unable to score again, holding onto the 2 - 1 win.

The last time out for Bayern was against Hoffenheim. Musiala was amongst the goals again, grabbing one in the first half and one in the second half. Just minutes after the second goal Grischa Promel was sent off for Hoffenheim and Kane’s late goal grabbed the 3 - 0 win for Bayern.

Deniz Undav opened the scoring for Stuttgart and a penalty from Serhou Guirassy doubled the lead in the second half. Werder only managed two shots on target, and had to settle for a 2 - 0 loss.

Werder bounced back the next time out against Augsburg. Niklas Stark gave Werder the lead just minutes before the halftime whistle and Marvin Ducksch doubled the lead in the 65th minute to grab a 2 - 0 win over an Augsburg that could only manage one shot on target.

Rafael Santos Borre Maury opened the scoring for Werder in the seventh minute but it was level at halftime as Rocco Reitz equalised for Borussia Monchengladbach. Reitz then completed his brace just four minutes into the second half. However, Ducksch struck late on to grab a 2 - 2 draw.

The visit from RB Leipzig saw limited action in the first half, Lois Openda opening the scoring just minutes into the second half. Justin Njinmah equalised for Werder but neither team could find the winner and settled for the 1 - 1 draw.

It was another 1 - 1 draw for Werder in their most recent outing to Bochum. Patrick Osterhage opened the scoring in the 64th minute and Stark levelled the game in the 93rd minute.
