Koln welcome RB Leipzig to the RheinEnergieStadion for the Friday night action in the Bundesliga this weekend. Leipzig look to themselves into the Champions League spots whereas Koln need a win to aid their quest for Bundesliga survival.

          Location: RheinEnergieStadion

RB Leipzig are within touching distance of the Champions League spots, with a win potentially taking them above Borussia Dortmund. Koln, however, sit in the relegation play-off spot, needing a big win to try and reel Bochum in.

Koln currently sit 16th in the Bundesliga after 25 games. The Billy Goats have three wins, nine draws and 13 losses, leaving them on 18 points, two points above Mainz and seven points behind Bochum.

The Billy Goats have the worst scoring record in the Bundesliga this season, scoring just 16 goals in 25 games, an average of 0.67 goals a game. However, Koln’s defensive record is much better, conceding 42 goals and keeping three clean sheets, ranking their defence 11th in the league.

RB Leipzig, on the other hand, currently sit fifth in the Bundesliga. In 25 games, Leipzig have 14 wins, four draws and seven losses which leaves them on 46 points, just one point behind Borussia Dortmund in the last Champions League spot.

          Recent Form

In their last five games in all competitions, Koln have three draws and two losses.

After a goalless first half, Max Finkgrafe thought he had won it for Koln with his goal in the 79th minute, the only shot on target for Koln all game. However, a 94th-minute goal from Andrej Kramaric grabbed a 1 - 1 draw for Hoffenheim.

The next time out for Koln was a visit from Werder Bremen, where despite having more of the possession and 13 shots, Koln slumped to a 1 - 0 loss with Justin Njinmah scoring the only goal of the game for Werder Bremen.

Koln had just 25% of the possession against Stuttgart and went behind in the 53rd minute through a goal from Enzo Millot. Eric Martel did equalise for Koln within ten minutes but neither team could find another goal and had to settle for a 1 - 1 draw.

An early red card to Koln’s Jan Thielman left them vulnerable against top-of-the-league Bayer Leverkusen. Jeremie Frimpong and Alex Grimaldo both scored to give Leverkusen the 2 - 0 win, with Koln unable to register a single shot on target.

The last time out for Koln was against Borussia Monchengladbach. Faride Alidou scored in the seventh minute to give Koln the lead but Franck Honorat equalised before halftime. Another goal from Alidou regained the lead for Koln but a quickfire double from Robin Hack gave Monchengladbach the 3 - 2 lead, but a late goal from Damion Downs grabbed the 3 - 3 draw.

In their last five games in all competitions, RB Leipzig have three wins, one draw and one loss.

Xavi Simons opened the scoring for Leipzig, his 14th-minute goal giving Leipzig the 1 - 0 lead at halftime. Lois Openda secured the 2 - 0 win with his goal as Borussia Monchengladbach failed to register a single shot on target.

However, the trip to the Allianz Arena was one to forget for Leipzig. Harry Kane opened the scoring for Bayern Munich early in the second half, but Benjamin Sesko equalised for Leipzig with 20 minutes to go. However, another goal from Kane in the 91st minute gave Bayern the 2 - 1 win.

Leipzig bounced back against a struggling Bochum. Leipzig went behind early on with Maximilian Wittek scoring in the seventh minute for Bochum. Dani Olmo equalised before halftime and goals from Openda and Yussuf Poulsen along with an own goal from Ivan Ordets gave Leipzig the 4 - 1 win, with Moritz Kwarteng sent off for Bochum late on.

In the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16, Leipzig travelled to Spain to take on Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior opened the scoring in the 65th minute but Willi Orban scored just three minutes later to grab a 1 - 1 draw for Leipzig, though they still lost 2 - 1 on aggregate.

The most recent outing for Leipzig was against Darmstadt. An own goal from Thomas Isherwood gave Leipzig the lead in the third minute and a goal from Christoph Baumgartner secured the 2 - 0 win for Leipzig.
