Struggling Almeria make the trip to Real Madrid to try and push themselves closer to safety. However, with Real Madrid closing in on top spot Girona, a win this weekend against a struggling side is of utmost importance.
Real Madrid currently sit second in La Liga after 19 games. Los Blancos have 15 wins, three draws and one loss, leaving them just one point behind Girona and seven points ahead of Athletic Club and Barcelona but with one game in hand.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been electric in front of goal, scoring 40 goals in 19 games, averaging 2.11 goals a game with their top scorer Jude Bellingham the top scorer in La Liga. Despite all of the defensive injuries, Real Madrid have the best defence in the league, conceding only 11 goals and keeping ten clean sheets.
Almeria, on the other hand, sit at the rock bottom of La Liga. In 20 games Almeria are still yet to win and have six draws and 14 losses. This leaves them on just six points, five from 19th Granada and ten points from safety.
All things considered, Almeria doesn’t have the worst attack in the league, scoring 19 goals so far this season, five more than worst-ranked Cadiz. However, their defence is where their real weakness is. In 20 games they have conceded 43 goals which is an average of 2.26 goals conceded a game with only two clean sheets.
Real Madrid and Almeria have only met 15 times in their histories, with one team showing clear dominance. Madrid have won on 12 occasions whereas Almeria have won just once, with the other two games ending in a draw.
In the last five games between the two sides, there have been at least three goals, but the fixture has seen highs of nine goals back in the 8 - 1 win for Madrid in 2011.
