Inter Milan vs Juventus Prediction & Betting Tips

Inter Milan and Juventus face off in what is a crucial matchup at the top of the Serie A table. Perhaps the most important game of the season, the result of this game could have a huge say in who is lifting the trophy at the end of the campaign.

These odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

            Date: 04/02/24

            Kick-off time: 19:45

            Venue: San Siro

The San Siro will be the venue of this top-of-the-league clash between Inter Milan and Juventus. The two sides occupy first and second place in the standings in what looks to be a two-way battle for the title.

Inter currently sit top, a point and place above Juventus following their 1-0 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday night. They also have a game in hand on both Juventus and third-place AC Milan, who are eight points further back. This means that the Nerazzurri are firmly in control of the title race and can further tighten their grip at the summit with another three points against the Old Lady.

A win for Juventus makes things even more interesting, as this would see them regain top spot by two points. With the quality of football and results that both sides are displaying, every game is starting to feel like a must-win, and either team are ready to take advantage should the other slip up.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have by far the league’s best attack, scoring 49 goals in 20 games. They also boast the most stubborn defence, only conceding 10 so far. This is in large part thanks to the sensational form of striker Lautaro Martinez, who has found the back of the net 19 times in the league. This puts him way out in front of the goal-scoring charts, whilst winger Hakan Çalhanoglu is also in the top five with nine goals. Juventus have 36 goals, with 13 conceded, making them the league’s second-best defence. Dusan Vlahovic leads the way for them with 12 goals. Both attacks will have to be at their clinical best to get past these strong backlines.

Nothing could split the sides in their meeting earlier this season in November, which perhaps sums up the story of this title race. The 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium saw the star strikers both get on the scoresheet. Vlahovic opened the scoring for the home side before Martinez equalised six minutes later.

In the last five seasons, Inter Milan and Juventus have met nine times in the league, with the latter coming out on top on five occasions. This includes a 1-0 victory at the San Siro last season in which Filip Kostic scored the winner midway through the first half. Inter have not been victorious since April 2022, when Calhanoglu’s seventh-minute penalty ended up being the difference between the teams.

Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barrella will both return from suspensions after missing the game against Fiorentina. Juan Cuadrado is a long-term absentee with an Achilles injury. Inter have no fresh injury concerns.

            Juventus Team News

Federico Chiesa’s injury woes continue as he missed the game with Empoli, so his status for this weekend’s game is in doubt. Striker Moise Kean is set to join Atletico Madrid. Adrien Rabiot is back in training after a shin injury.

            Form Guide

            Inter Milan

In their last five games, Inter have been perfect, winning them all. It started with a 2-1 victory over 18th-place Verona, in which Davide Frattesi scored a 93rd-minute winner after Thomas Henry cancelled out Lautaro Martinez’s early opener.

Their next win was much more comfortable, as they put five past Monza including braces from Martinez and Calhanoglu. Marcus Thuram added the fifth.

Inter advanced to the final of the Italian Supercup with a 3-0 win against Lazio. Thuram, Calhanoglu and Frattesi were all on the scoresheet once again. This set up a meeting with Napoli in the final, and the Nerazzurri lifted the trophy as they won 1-0. However, they did leave it late even though their opponents were playing with ten men for the final half an hour. As he often has this season, Martinez scored another winner, this time in the 91st minute to earn his side another honour.

They returned to league action at the weekend, taking on Fiorentina. Martinez’s winner gave them another three points as they beat them 1-0, setting up a mouth-watering meeting with Juventus on Sunday.

            Juventus

In their last five games, Juventus have won four and drawn once. Their most recent game against Empoli ended in a 1-1 draw which snapped a seven-game winning streak in all competitions. They will be disappointed not to take maximum points considering they took the lead through Dusan Vlahovic.

This recent stretch began with a 2-1 victory at Salernitana as Juve came from behind to beat the bottom-place team. They went a goal down to a Giulio Maggiore strike before the midfielder was shown a red card shortly after the restart. The visitors equalised thanks to Samuel Iling-Junior, and then snatched the win in stoppage time with another Vlahovic goal.

Three dominant games followed, with the team scoring 10 and conceding none. Firstly, a 4-0 win against Frosinone in the Coppa Italia booked their place in the semi-finals, where they will face Lazio in April. They then maintained their position at the top of the Serie A table with back-to-back 3-0 triumphs against Sassuolo and Lecce. Vlahovic scored four goals across these two fixtures.

            Footy Accumulators Prediction

Both sides are enjoying excellent runs of form with neither having lost a league game since September. These are the league’s two best defences, so goals may be at a premium. In such an intense battle at the top of the league, we expect the points to be shared – Inter Milan 1-1 Juventus
