Motor Neurone Disease is something that's effected many people and families around the United Kingdom. The disease attacks the nerves and leads to muscle wasting, affecting how sufferers walk, talk and breathe. It's such a cruel, terrible thing to happen to anyone, but Altrincham FC have a hero who's tackled the disease head on and given hope to others.
Former Robins captain Mark Maddox was told at the age of 37 that he was diagnosed with the disease which would've been such crushing news, but that hasn't stopped him going and achieving incredible things. He ran the London Marathon on behalf of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) back in 2013, raising an incredible £5000. Now we want to help the MND Association in their battle against the illness with a current Robins hero.
Jordan Hulme scored 31 goals for Alty last season their way to winning the Northern Premier League Premier Division title and he's a firm favourite with the clubs supporters. He's made the step up to the National League North with ease too, netting 4 times in his opening 4 games, which has led to us making a pledge.
For EVERY goal that Jordan scores this season we will donate £50 to the MND Association via our official JustGiving page. The Motor Neurone Disease Association does some fantastic work and with it so close to Altrincham FC, it feels right that we support their efforts.
Keep an eye out for our tweets featuring special GIFs from the main man throughout the course of the season, hopefully he can surpass the 31 goals he netted last term!
You can also check Jordan's progress via our official JustGiving page which you can find HERE - we will be donating to it after every goal he scores. Please feel free to give what you can to the fund as we tackle Motor Neurone Disease together with Altrincham FC.
