5 Premier League Tips to Look out for on Opening Weekend

Liverpool kick off their title defence against a newly promoted Leeds side that return to the Premier League following a 16-year absence from the top flight and Marcelo Bielsa's side smell blood.

Fulham, just like Leeds, are another newly promoted side that have been dealt with a very difficult opening day fixture, this time at the hands of Arsenal whom they have not beaten since January 2012.

A very interesting opening day game will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium between two sides that have been ever-present in the Premier League since its incarnation.

As for the managers, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancellotti, this will be the start of their first full season at the respective clubs for the two former Chelsea bosses. Two sides that might not play the most entertaining football but two of the last three results in this fixture at the London Stadium have finished in 3-2 wins for Newcastle.

Prior to the takeover at Newcastle falling through, fans were hoping that this could be a season where they finally do not have to look over their shoulders at the relegation zone (if they were not in it of course). Instead it looks like the Magpies will be serving another season under the power of Mike Ashley. However, Steve Bruce did manage to exceed expectations last season, finishing a respectable 13th place and did not become embroiled in a relegation scrap.

As for West Ham, despite being in his second spell as manager of the club, David Moyes will finally have the opportunity to experience a first full season at the London Stadium. The Scottish manager will be hoping to lead the club away from the relegation scrap they had last season and so on the opening day, two teams with similar expectations for the season will be going head to head.

Whilst another 3-2 scoreline, as we have often seen in this fixture of late, will be fairly difficult to come by, the odds suggest that a Newcastle win with both teams to score in this fixture is a more realistic prospect and the odds stand at 11/2 for that to happen.
