12:45 - Kempton - Noble Park

Boxing Day coverage on ITV kicks off with a competitive handicap chase over an extended two miles and four.

Noble Park looks incredibly progressive for Nicky Henderson. The six-year-old comes out on top on RPRs, and has quickly put to bed his two efforts over fences this season.

He travelled excellently and jumped efficiently at Lingfield at the end of November, beating Vanderpoel by a wide 24-length margin.

This jumping test should suit him down to the ground, and he could yet prove to be a graded horse in a handicap.

13:05 - Aintree - Mydaddypaddy

The first Grade One of Boxing Day comes in the form of the Formby Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree.

Mydaddypaddy looks challenging to oppose for the Dan Skelton team. The four-year-old has impressed on his two starts over hurdles, quickly putting seven lengths between himself and the field over an extended mile and seven last time out at Haydock.

Comes out on top on ratings in this field, and there still looks more to come from the runner who currently heads the betting for the Supreme in March.

13:20 - Kempton - Wendigo

Willie Mullins throws a dart at the Grade One Kauto Star Novices’ Chase this year, but Wendigo could be primed to excel in this jumping test over three miles.

The Jamie Snowden runner was second in Grade One company over hurdles last season, and was only narrowly denied on chasing debut in October when finishing behind subsequent Cheltenham winner Wade Out.

Has since got his head in front over the bigger obstacles, beating No Questions Asked in impressive fashion at Newbury, looking every inch as though this step up to three miles would bring out further improvement.

13:35 - Wetherby - Butch

Wetherby joins the ITV Boxing Day party at 13:35, with a handicap chase over three miles.

A chance could be taken on Butch, who likely needed the comeback run at Haydock last month when finishing fifth.

That was his first start after wind surgery, and there was plenty to like about his previous efforts over fences.

He made a striking distance over the larger obstacles at Leicester last December, before he was narrowly beaten over two miles and four at Carlisle.

Was a talented hurdler before going chasing, and any rain would be a major benefit to his chances.

13:55 - Kempton - Golden Ace

Sir Gino returns to action after a near year-long absence from the track in the Grade One Christmas Hurdle.

There’s no denying that the Henderson horse is the most talented runner in this field, but he’s been off the track for a long time, and there’s no guarantee that he will be as good as he was before his health issues.

Therefore, the shock Champion Hurdle winner, Golden Ace, could be the play. The Jeremy Scott runner has picked up the pieces in two Grade Ones this year, but is still largely overlooked by many.

Won in good style at Newcastle last time, and arguably would have beaten The New Lion even without his fall. Gets weight from market rivals, and there will be absolutely no surprise to see her go close.

14:30 - Kempton - The Jukebox Man

One of the hottest renewals of the Grade One King George Chase headlines the ITV action on Boxing Day.

Cheltenham Festival winners Fact To File, Gaelic Warrior, and Jango Baie will dominate the betting, with the Willie Mullins duo adding plenty of intrigue to this year’s race.

However, the Irish maestro has won just two editions of the King George from 27 runners.

Therefore, I like the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase angle, with Bravemansgame previously completing the double in successive years in 2022. Ben Pauling has been bullish about the chances of The Jukebox Man, and the yard is striking at 24% over the last two weeks.

The seven-year-old was a striking winner over course and distance last winter, beating Hyland by a two-length margin.

Returned following a lengthy break with a solid jumping display, beating subsequent winner Iroko by two lengths. His jumping is his biggest asset.

Course and distance form at Kempton is respected, with nine of the last 12 winners having previous experience there. Will need to improve, but every chance we haven’t seen his peak just yet, and it's well worth the chance.
