13:50 - Newbury - Wendigo

The ITV coverage for a star-studded weekend kicks off from Newbury with the Grade Two John Francome Novices’ Chase.

Plenty of interesting contenders will be involved, but Jamie Snowden-trained Wendigo could present the most realistic winner.

The six-year-old was second over hurdles at Grade One level last season, and was beaten when a short-priced favourite on chase debut at Worcester last month.

However, the form of that race has worked out incredibly well, with Wade Out subsequently landing a Listed Race at Cheltenham. Yard is bang in form, and this could be his perfect trip.

14:25 - Newbury - American Mike

A Handicap Chase over two miles and four is next on ITV, with a field of seven runners going to post.

American Mike could be chucked in on stable debut of Olly Murphy, with Sean Bowen taking the ride.

The eight-year-old has won on seasonal return in two of the last three seasons, including notably on chase debut in November 2023 when beating Fact To File over two miles and four on testing ground.

Has also got form over three miles, beating Grand National winner, Nick Rockett, by a length at Navan in February 2024. Lost his way slightly at the end of last season, but with plenty of rain on the forecast, he could prove too good for this field.

14:40 - Southwell - Shader

All-weather action is also covered on ITV this Friday, with the Listed Churchill Stakes due off at 14:40.

Shader looks like a very unexposed sort for the John & Thady Gosden yard, with Colin Keane booked to take the ride.

The four-year-old was impressive on his latest start on the all-weather, landing the Listed Floodlit Stakes by a yawning nine-length margin. Has a 3-3 record on the surface, and still looks to be improving. Hard to beat.

15:00 - Newbury - Impose Toi

Next up is the Grade Two Long Distance Hurdle. Strong Leader is a deserving favourite, but the Olly Murphy runner will need to concede weight to some talented rivals this week.

Impose Toi appeared to blow his handicap mark when steaming home in the recent Pertemps qualifier at Aintree, looking perfectly at home over the extended three-mile distance.

The runner has a winning record at Newbury, landing a handicap at the track over two miles and four at this meet 12 months ago. The Nicky Henderson yard is in red-hot form, and Nico De Boinville takes the ride.

15:15 - Southwell - Zoum Zoum

The Listed Golden Rose Stakes is due off at 15:15. Zoum Zoum has always threatened to win a big race for the Ralph Beckett team.

The four-year-old gelding is ideally drawn on Friday, and produced a stirring effort on his latest effort when taking second behind Spycatcher in the 13-runner Wentworth Stakes on testing ground at Doncaster.

A return to the all-weather is also a positive, winning on his sole start on the surface back in October 2023.

15:35 - Newbury - I’m A Lumberjack

A competitive handicap hurdle over an extended three miles rounds off ITV’s coverage on Friday.

I’m A Lumberjack could still be unexposed over hurdles for the Alan King yard. The six-year-old was a winner on his first start last season, beating Kahavari by a 14-length margin.

He held his own in some hot races throughout last season, including when winning over two miles and five at Warwick. This is his first attempt over three miles, but he looks like a well-handicapped runner on this first crack at a staying trip.
