13:50 - Goodwood - Believitanducan

ITV’s coverage of Day Four of Glorious Goodwood kicks off with a competitive 18-runner handicap over an extended two miles and four.

Believitanducan looks capable of maintaining his unbeaten run this season for the Alan King yard, with William Buick booked aboard. King excels with dual-purpose stayers, and was excellent on his last start on the turf when beating Solar Pass by three lengths at Chester.

Is still incredibly well handicapped, and the five-year-old hasn’t yet reached his peak.

14:25 - Goodwood - Talk Of New York

The first of the Group races on Friday comes in the form of the Group Three Thoroughbred Stakes.

Talk Of New York should prove very difficult to beat for the Charlie Appleby and William Buick combination.

The three-year-old won excellently on back-to-back starts after returning from the Middle East, and he was only beaten by just over a length by Bow Echo (first) and Gstaad (second) in the Group One St. James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. Rock-solid form, and he is hard to bet against.

15:00 - Goodwood - Beagle Bay

The ultra-competitive Golden Mile is next up at Glorious Goodwood, and the draw could be crucial with eight of the last ten winners coming from stall five or lower.

Ralph Beckett typically targets this meeting with progressive handicappers, meaning the low-draw Beagle Bay should be a solid contender. The four-year-old is in excellent recent form, having landed back-to-back wins at York and Sandown, with the latter success seeing him get the better of Raamee on his first attempt over a mile since finishing a head second behind Point Of Contact on debut at Newbury.

The narrow margin of success means that he hasn’t been hiked up in the weights, and this looks like a perfect opportunity to maintain his recent winning run.

15:35 - Goodwood - Spicy Marg

The feature on Friday is the 15-runner Group Two King George Qatar Stakes. At the prices, previous course and distance winner Spicy Marg could be capable of playing a part.

She gets weight from the majority of her rivals on Friday, and the Michael Bell yard is ticking along nicely. Spicy Marg was only beaten a head in the Group One Commonwealth Cup, and her recent run at York may have come too soon after that effort, meaning that a line can be put through it.

Furthermore, York doesn’t seem to be a track that suits her, having been well beaten on both efforts there. Goodwood is a different story, as the three-year-old was an impressive winner in a Fillies’ Conditions Stakes race over five furlongs at the course last July. Tom Marquand is a positive booking.

16:10 - Goodwood - Boiling Point

ITV’s final race on Friday is the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Bentinck Conditions Stakes. Boiling Point could cause a minor upset.

The selection has twice won at Goodwood, including landing a narrow success over a mile and two from Naqeeb in May. The trends support his chances, with winners typically holding ratings between 110 and 114.

Karl Burke’s yard is in solid recent form, and this drop back down in trip shouldn’t present many issues after winning a hugely competitive handicap over a mile and one at Newmarket last September.
