13:15 - Warwick - A Great Excuse

ITV’s coverage from Warwick kicks off with a two-mile and four-furlong handicap.

A Great Excuse has looked progressive over fences, winning once from two starts.

Was an eye-catching winner from a 4lb lower mark at Lingfield last time, and he should relish stepping back up in trip for the Max Comley yard this weekend. Jamie Brace retains the ride, and that is a plus.

13:30 - Kempton - Precious Man

Precious Man should avenge his defeat in the Juvenile Trial at Cheltenham in November on Saturday.

Harry Skelton takes the ride on the Dan Skelton runner, who holds a clear advantage on official ratings.

Should have won at Cheltenham a few months ago, but a costly jumping error at the final flight gave him too much to do. Obvious chance with plenty in his favour on these terms.

13:52 - Warwick - Doyen Quest

An interesting renewal of the Grade Two Hampton Novices’ Chase sees a number of live chances.

However, Doyen Quest’s jumping efficiency could be the telling factor. The eight-year-old was an excellent winner over three miles at Exeter in November, before boldly jumping out from the front at Sandown in the Grade Two Esher Novices’ Chase last time.

If adopting the same tactics on Saturday, he could be tough to catch, and he looks like the value play at the available odds.

14:05 - Kempton - Welcom To Cartries

In-form Paul Nicholls is represented by Welcom To Cartries in the handicap chase at Kempton on Saturday.

The eight-year-old bounced back to form last time when beating New Order in a hot handicap over three miles at Sandown.

This gelding has always shown promise. Yard form and the services of Harry Cobden could be the key to his chances on Saturday of replicating his recent win.

14:25 - Warwick - Dr Waksman

Sean Bowen takes the ride on Dr Waksman for the in-form Chris Gordon yard at Warwick on Saturday.

The five-year-old is winless in three starts over hurdles, but this drop back to two miles could be the crucial factor in unlocking his potential.

Was underwhelming over two miles and four at Plumpton last month, but is interesting back over his preferred trip now in handicaps.

14:40 - Kempton - Kalif Du Berlais

The feature on Saturday is the Grade Two Silviniaco Conti Chase. Kalif Du Berlais looks like a standout chance to bounce back to form after an underwhelming reappearance at Exeter in November.

Paul Nicholls’ runners were below their best when he returned, but they are now bang among the winners.

The selection was a standout performer throughout his novice campaign over fences, which included an excellent win over two miles at Aintree in the Grade One Maghull Novices’ Chase. Expected to bounce back to form.

14:55 - Warwick - Myretown

Connections have teased a potential run in the Gold Cup with Myretown this year, meaning that he should be difficult to beat off a low weight in the Half a Mill Classic Handicap Chase at Warwick.

The nine-year-old was a faller in the Coral Gold Cup last time, but remains unexposed over fences after winning three from six starts.

Was seen to his clinical best at Cheltenham last March when beating The Changing Man by eleven lengths in the Ultima Handicap Chase. Should be hard to oppose.

15:17 - Kempton - French Ship

French Ship could be a graded horse in a handicap this weekend, meaning he is preferred to land the Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle.

The six-year-old carries top weight but has shown excellent progression so far this season, winning on his last two starts.

Effective over this trip, and has the potential to be even better over further. Expected to go close with Calluk Pritchard aboard.

15:32 - Warwick - Long Draw

Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen could team up for success in the Pertemp Qualifier on Saturday.

The seven-year-old has largely been consistent throughout his career, winning on three from his 15 starts. Will need to bounce back after finishing a tired ninth in a handicap at Cheltenham last time.

Capable of better, and has dropped to a workable mark in this company.
