13:15 - Cheltenham - Theonewedreamof

The ITV coverage on Saturday kicks off with a competitive 16-runner Mares’ Handicap Chase over an extended two miles and four.

Theonewedreamof still looks to be ahead of her mark, and was very impressive on her second start for the Dan Skelton stable when beating Gyenyame by two lengths.

Travelled smoothly into that race, and this drop back to two miles and four looks ideal for her. Will stay better than most coming up the Cheltenham hill, and represents a yard that consistently gets winners on a big Saturday.

13:50 - Cheltenham - Hoe Joly Smoke

I was a big supporter of Hoe Joly Smoke for the Paddy Power Gold Cup last month, and he looks of significant interest once again in the December Gold Cup.

The seven-year-old travelled excellently last month at the track, before being short of room at the last.

Will have Harry Skelton aboard this weekend, and gets a reversal in the weights with Vicenzo, who finished just two lengths ahead of the selection last month.

Kim Roque is another who still looks to have wiggle room in his mark, and is a serious danger for the Joseph O’Brien team.

14:05 - Doncaster - Erne River

Doncaster is also covered on ITV this weekend. A Handicap Chase over three miles is the first of three televised races, and Erne River could be one that is lingering on a very low mark.

The ten-year-old for trainer Nick Kent is a three-time winner over fences, and he has run well in some big handicaps already this calendar year, including when third at Aintree in April.

His inconsistent profile will ensure that he goes off at a big price, but he is a course and distance winner, and could be worth an each-way dart against the favourite.

14:25 - Cheltenham - Gunsight Ridge

Gunsight Ridge is an interesting runner for the Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen combination on Saturday.

The ten-year-old didn’t appear suited by the ground on last month’s comeback effort, finishing fourth and 23 lengths behind Eldorado Allen.

However, dropping back to two miles is a clear positive this weekend, having run well over the trip at Aintree in April, and winning at Sandown in an impressive manner in February. Solid strike-rate over fences, and the field has him to beat based on RPRs.

14:40 - Doncaster - Kateira

The Listed Mares’ Hurdle at Doncaster should be a relatively straightforward task for Kateira.

The Dan Skelton runner is clear on official ratings, and will only carry 2lb more than her closest market rival. She was an emphatic 28-length winner over Golden Ace on her comeback in Listed company last month, before running well over three miles despite being beaten emphatically by the impressive Wodhooh.

She stays three miles very strongly and excels at the course, evident after finishing a head second to the highly-rated Jetara in Grade Two company in January. Ticks virtually every box.

15:00 - Cheltenham - Conman John

Grade Two action is due off at Cheltenham at 15:00, as the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle has attracted a field of seven runners.

Conman John looks like a potential Cheltenham Festival contender, meaning that he should be challenging to beat on Saturday.

The five-year-old is unbeaten in two starts over hurdles, and was very impressive over three miles at Cheltenham last month when quickly putting three lengths between himself and Great Fleet. The one to beat on all form lines.

15:17 - Doncaster - Amancio

ITV’s final race from Doncaster on Saturday is a challenging handicap over an extended two miles. Amancio could be one of note for the Faye Bromley stable.

The four-year-old has progressed well since switching to hurdles, and was an eye-catching winner on soft ground at Sedgefield last time out when beating Idaho Valley by five lengths.

The gelding will relish the ground conditions, and he carries significantly less weight than the market principals and has little to find on RPRs.

15:35 - Cheltenham - Pismo Beach

The ITV coverage on Saturday concludes with a Mares’ Handicap Hurdle over an extended two miles and four.

Cases can be made for many of the market leaders, but off a light weight, Pismo Beach could hold each-way claims. The five-year-old ran well below form last time at Warwick, but a return to form could give her an interesting chance.

She was excellent on her return at Hexham in October, beating Highbury Hill by a commanding two-length margin.

Looks extremely well-handicapped if repeating the run that saw her finish an eye-catching third behind Siog Geal at Newbury in the Grade Two Mares’ Novices Hurdle in March. Trainer is in form, and she could out-run her odds.
