13:33 - Newmarket - Romantic Symphony

ITV’s coverage on Saturday kicks off with the Listed Chalice Stakes from Newmarket. Hot on the heels of his sensational win aboard Bow Echo, Billy Loughnane will team up with Charlie Appleby with Romantic Symphony.

The three-year-old gets plenty of weight from her market rivals, and further progression is expected by the Dubawi colt over this trip.

She was only touched off in the Prix de Thiberville at Longchamp on her first attempt over this far, and she should be making amends at HQ on these terms.

13:50 - Goodwood - Hopewell Rock

The final day of coverage from Glorious Goodwood kicks off with a competitive renewal of the Summer Handicap over a mile and six.

In-form George Boughey will have Ryan Moore aboard Hopewell Rock, who should be capable of making an impression up in trip. The four-year-old wasn’t beaten far when favourite for the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot, and was doing all his best work late in the day when third on his first start after being gelded at Newmarket on return.

Capable of better and the yard has already been among the winners this week.

14:08 - Thirsk - Northern Express

Action from Thirsk is also covered on ITV this Saturday, with the Summer Cup Handicap due off at 14:08. Previous course and distance winner Northern Express should go close at his preferred track, especially in retained headgear.

He was excellent at York last time, leading home a 17-runner field to beat Pellitary by a head. The step back up to a mile should suit, having run with credit at York on two occasions over the trip last year.

14:25 - Goodwood - Opportunity

Next up is the Group Three Glorious Stakes, run over a distance of a mile and four at Glorious Goodwood.

Opportunity is the interesting selection against his older stablemate. The four-year-old will have in-form James Doyle aboard, and he has quickly progressed this season after winning on back-to-back starts at Carlisle and Royal Ascot.

His latest win represented a fine step back up in trip, easily holding off Warrant Holder to land the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes. Still progressing, and should be set to make his mark now up in grade.

15:00 - Goodwood - Santorini Star

A marathon over a mile and six is next up from Glorious Goodwood, as a field of seven runners go to post for the Group Two Lillie Langtry Stakes.

William Haggas-trained Santorini Star looks like the most reliable contender after looking unsuited when dropped down in distance last time out in the Group Two Hardwicke Stakes.

She was a close second behind Caballo De Mar in the Group One Prix Vicomtesse Vigier in May, and has proven form over this weekend’s distance after winning the Group Two Park Hill Fillies’ Stakes last September.

15:35 - Goodwood - Ferrous

The feature on Saturday is the 28-runner Stewards’ Cup over six furlongs. Two Tribes and Completely Random make the shortlist, but the preference is for Jack Channon-trained Ferrous.

The six-year-old ticks plenty of the desired trend boxes, including being the correct age, as well as holding the correct official rating and weight. His second last time out when carrying a heavy weight at Hamilton shows he is in good form, and the selection appreciates a fast-paced six-furlong sprint, having won seven career races over the distance.

Ferrous also has course form in the book, landing a victory on quick ground at Goodwood by a length from Pure Angel in May 2023. This could have been the long-term target.

16:10 - Goodwood - Marengo Storm

ITV’s coverage of Glorious Goodwood comes to a conclusion at 16:10, with a handicap over seven furlongs. Marengo Storm looks like an interesting each-way angle for the team of Richard Hughes and Luke Morris.

The three-year-old stayed on well to win at Newmarket on his first attempt over the seven furlongs in late June, and he has finished in the top two on both previous starts on the turf.

He is ideally drawn in stall one, and carries just 8-2 on his back, despite boasting the joint-highest RPR of 115 in the race.
