12:55 - Doncaster - Rocking Man

An informative afternoon of ITV Racing coverage gets underway with the Grade Two River Done Novices’ Hurdle.

Rocking Man has looked very progressive over hurdles this season, and justified favouritism to beat Carlenrig over an extended two miles and three at Chepstow in November.

Meets the same rival once again this Saturday, but gets a potentially vital 5lb pull at the weights. Sam Thomas is a trainer in red-hot form.

13:15 - Cheltenham - Triple Trade

Cheltenham coverage on ITV kicks off with an interesting handicap chase over an extended two miles and four. Jagwar returned with a fine third last month, but Triple Trade could be the value play.

The ten-year-old for Joe Tizzard won impressively at Cheltenham on reappearances, before a below-par effort in December.

Bounced back to his best form when stepping up to two miles and four at Sandown, with his jumping being a key asset when holding off Jet Plane by just under two lengths.

13:30 - Doncaster - Feet Of A Dancer

The Grade Two Yorkshire Rose Mares’ Hurdle is next up. Feet Of A Dancer is a notable British raider for Paul Nolan, and the seven-year-old should be hard to beat over her preferred three miles.

She was fourth in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival last year, before winning earlier this season over two miles and two at Punchestown.

Jumped well and threw down a good challenge to Wodhooh at Leopardstown last month, and that’s the strongest form line on offer here.

13:50 - Cheltenham - Latenightpass

Cross Country action is next on the agenda at Cheltenham, and course specialist Latenightpass could be an interesting each-way angle.

Gina Andrews takes the ride on the T Ellis-trained runner, who was a winner over course and distance in December 2023. Run credibly behind Stumptown in the same race in December 2024, before finishing an excellent second in the Cross Country at the festival.

Has been below that standard on two runs so far this term, but course experience could see the selection hit the board.

14:05 - Doncaster - Deep Cave

The rapidly progressive Deep Cave could be the standout selection in the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster on Saturday.

The eight-year-old for Christian Williams has won three from five starts over fences, and has readily continued his progress this term after winning back-to-back starts over three miles at Bangor and Ascot.

Unlikely to have finished improving, and is preferred to rack up a fourth straight win.

14:25 - Cheltenham - Grey Dawning

Grey Dawning could be hard to oppose in the Grade Two Cotswolds Chase at Cheltenham. L’Homme Presse would be an interesting rival, but Venetia Williams’s form is in question.

Grey Dawning was an excellent winner of the Grade One Turners Novices’ Chase at the Festival in 2024, but lost his way somewhat in open company last term.

Has bounced back to his very best this season, and was emphatic on his seasonal return in the Grade One Betfair Chase. A repeat would make him very hard to stop.

15:00 - Cheltenham - The New Lion

An informative renewal of the Grade Two International Hurdle will have implications for the Champion Hurdle betting.

I’m against Sir Gino, with The New Lion giving the nod to bounce back from his below-par showing in the Grade One Fighting Fifth. The Dan Skelton runner excels around Cheltenham, evident from his win in the Grade One Turners Novices’ Hurdle last March.

Ground conditions could also bring his proven stamina advantage into play, while the expected forecast of more rain is likely to favour his chances more so than his market rival.

15:35 - Cheltenham - Impose Toi

ITV’s coverage from Cheltenham rounds off with the Grade Two Cleeve Hurdle.

Impose Toi has been the emerging star in the staying division this season, and the eight-year-old could give Nicky Henderson a first success in the race. Impose Toi has already beaten the reappearing Strong Leader on two occasions this season, including most recently in the Grade One Long Walk Hurdle when running on level weights.

Excels at Cheltenham, winning at the track in November 2023 and finishing second behind the well-handicapped Jimmy Du Seuil in the Coral Cup. Hard to oppose.
