A tricky handicap chase over two miles kicks off the ITV coverage on Saturday.

Passing Kate could be extremely well handicapped for the Matt Sheppard and Ned Fox combination. The lightly-raced eight-year-old has finished in the first two on four of her five chase starts, which includes an excellent second behind Jour d’Evasion on testing ground last time.

A return to better ground should suit her chances, and she gets plenty of weight from the reappearing rival.

Macktoad could be challenging to overlook in the Grade Two Juvenile Hurdle for Gary & Josh Moore.

The three-year-old oozed class on his stable debut at Sandown at the start of the month, beating Pourquaoi Pas Papa by over three lengths.

Looks capable on soft and good-to-soft ground, and has previously shown promise on the flat. Extra distance could bring out further improvement.

Ben Jones and Ben Pauling could team up for success in the Grade Two Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase on Saturday.

Mambonumberfive has been foot-perfect on two chase starts to date, including when easily beating Mighty Bandit by a commanding two lengths at Newbury in November.

Is versatile ground-wise, and his jumping will be a real asset in this company around Kempton.

A handicap hurdle over an extended two miles and seven is next up from Chepstow.

Crebilly could be back on workable mark for the in-form Jonjo & A J O’Neill stable.

The eight-year-old was last seen finishing sixth in a Pertemps Qualifier at Aintree, but seemingly will come on for the run. Will be a competitive player over staying trips in handicap hurdles this season, and is rated far higher over fences.

Ryan’s Rocket will get plenty of weight from his market rivals in the Grade Two Desert Orchid Handicap Chase on Saturday.

The Fergal O’Brien runner has won twice from five starts over fences, and was an eye-catching winner over an extended two miles at Newbury last time when beating Javert Allen easier than the winning margin suggests.

Should be capable of going in again on these terms, with previous Kempton form in the book.

The big race of the day comes in the form of the Welsh Grand National. Previous winner Nassalam could be a major player back on a competitive mark.

The eight-year-old was dominant in this race in 2023, before being given a hike in the ratings. Since then, his form figures don’t read too well, but there was evidence of a resurgence last time out at Cheltenham.

Back on this mark, he is a major contender to go extremely close, with conditions likely to be in his favour.

Paul Nicholls should have a contender in the handicap chase at Kempton on Saturday.

Viroflay has come close on his last two chase start, including when second over course and distance last time out. Olive Nicholls takes an important 5lb off the selection, and that could prove a crucial factor.

Handles the track, and is entitled to go close.
