13:25 - Musselburgh - Comic Hero

ITV’s action on Saturday kicks off with the Royal Mile Handicap over a mile at Musselburgh. Comic Hero has the advantage of a recent run under his belt, and he made a striking impression for the Andrew Balding team when winning over seven furlongs on the all-weather at Kempton in February.

Is yet to win in three starts on the turf, but shaped as if this step up to a mile will suit last time.

13:55 - Musselburgh - Gweedore

The Silver Arrow Handicap is up next from Musselburgh, with a competitive field of ten involved. Gweedore is a veteran these days, but the Katie Scott-trained runner tends to thrive after a layoff.

The nine-year-old was an excellent winner over course and distance on his final start at the end of last season, beating U Sure Do by a short head. Is a proven stayer, and Jason Hart will once again be aboard this 13-time winner under rules.

14:12 - Haydock - We’re Red And Blue

Jumps fans will also be covered on ITV this weekend, with the Haydock action getting underway with a handicap hurdle over an extended mile and seven.

We’re Red And Blue has always looked like a classy horse, and he recorded a third career success at Huntingdon last December. Has followed that up with two placed efforts in competitive handicaps at Kempton and Sandown. Gets weight off a re-opposing rival this weekend, and could be set to fire.

14:30 - Musselburgh - Roaring Legend

A mammoth mile and six furlongs will be covered in the Goliath Cup Stakes on Saturday. Roaring Legend has always promised to land a race of this calibre, and recent fitness will be on his side this weekend. Was only narrowly beaten on his second start this calendar year by Enemy on the all-weather at Lingfield.

The Olly Murphy-trained runner has a solid strike rate on the turf, winning twice from eleven starts, and conditions will be in his favour this weekend.

14:46 - Haydock - Blue Carpet

Dan and Harry Skelton typically get winners on a Saturday, and Blue Carpet looks well-handicapped to oblige in the 14:46 from Haydock.

The six-year-old has won twice from four starts over hurdles, and showed his staying ability last time when easily holding off Woodland Park to win by just under four lengths. Unlikely to have stopped improving, and should take this challenge in his stride.

15:05 - Musselburgh - Gambino

The big betting race from Musselburgh this weekend is the Queen’s Cup Handicap. Gambino is a fascinating runner for the Dan Skelton yard, with Rossa Ryan booked aboard.

The five-year-old ran in the Novice Stakes won by Constitution Hill in February, before showing plenty on hurdles debut when third at Newbury last time. Gambino is already a winner on the flat, having won over an extended mile at Gowran Park, and there is plenty of improvement to come over this trip.

15:20 - Haydock - Guard Your Dreams

The Veterans’ Handicap Chase is due off at 15:20 on Saturday, with a big field of 17 runners declared. Guard Your Dreams was brought down at the first in the Plate Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last month, but produced a stunning jumping display when last seen in veterans' company at Warwick, easily beating Fugitif by 13 lengths.

Represents a yard among the winners, and Toby McCain-Mitchell is back aboard, just as he was for the win at Warwick.

15:42 - Musselburgh - Pilgrim

ITV’s final race from Musselburgh on Saturday is the Sprint Cup Handicap. Pilgrim has the advantage of a recent run under his belt, and the previous course and distance winner for trainers David & Nicola Barron should be set to run a big race.

The five-year-old has won three from 14 on the turf, and showed his ability over this trip when landing the Palace of Holyrood last year. Typically starts his seasons in excellent form, and makes plenty of appeal now dropped in the weights.

15:55 - Haydock - Court Adhemar

The final race from Haydock on Saturday is a handicap chase over two miles and four. Court Adhemar is more progressive than most in this race, and he finally looks set to open his account over fences this weekend.

The six-year-old has finished second on his last two efforts, including when not beaten far at Newcastle last time, when appearing to be screaming out for a step up in trip. Ticks plenty of the right boxes this weekend.
