ITV Racing Tips – Saturday 5th September 2026 Best Bets for Haydock, Ascot & Kempton

Nine races are covered on ITV this weekend, with the Haydock card headlined by the Group One Sprint Cup. However, all eyes will be on Kemptem this Saturday, as Constitution Hill is in action against proven runners on the flat in the Group Three September Stakes.

We have gone through all televised races on ITV on Saturday, picking out ITV horse racing tips, and an accumulator for ITV racing.

ITV’s coverage on Saturday kicks off with the Group Three Superior Mile Stakes, run over a distance of a mile at Haydock.

Dancing Gemini could be a vulnerable favourite, meaning that the narrow preference is for consistent The Lost King for the Andrew Balding team. The four-year-old has won on back-to-back starts over a mile on the turf, smoothly pulling clear of Bullet Point at York in a Heritage Handicap last time out.

Looks ground versatile with wins on soft and quicker ground, and looks to be of interest now up in grade.

The first of two races from Ascot on Saturday is a handicap over seven furlongs. William Haggas-trained Thunder Call looks on a workable mark after showing plenty of late finishing ability when only a length behind Red Spells Danger in the Shergar Cup Sprint last month.

He has previously won on the turf, beating the same rival at York on quick ground in June.

This step up in distance should suit, while any potential rain wouldn’t be a major negative after the selection run a huge race when second at Doncaster on heavy ground in November. Cieran Fallon is back aboard, just as he was for a win with Thunder Call at Kempton in May.

Next up is the Ascendant Stakes, which will be run over a distance of a mile by horses aged two. First Law will be difficult to beat for the Charlie Appleby-William Buick combination.

The two-year-old made a pleasing impression on his rules debut, holding off Flight Tracker to win by a head at Sandown. Should come on for that run, with a top jockey now booked aboard.

The second race from Ascot this weekend is a handicap over a mile and four.

Heyzoom looks like a standout selection on his first start after being gelded. He ran a stormer when fourth in the King George V Stakes.

Enceladus has since boosted that form with a dominant win at Goodwood. Heyzoom got the better of the re-opposing Besieged at Newbury over a mile and two in May, and should be capable of confirming that form with more experience under his belt after hanging in the closing stages of that recent meeting.

The Owen Burrows yard is in excellent form, and Saffie Osborne once again takes the ride.

Juveniles will be in action in the opening race covered from Kempton this weekend, with a distance of six furlongs covered in the Group Three Sirenia Stakes.

Moonrise could be the horse worth following after winning two from three career starts. She showed plenty of stamina last time to see off Dee’s Funny Girl in the Group Three Japan Cup Stakes at Ascot, and was only narrowly beaten at 66/1 when runner-up in the Windsor Castle Stakes.

Only enhances her chances, as she is proven on the all-weather, having won over course and distance in May.

A competitive handicap over a mile and six is next up from Haydock, and Galilean Quality could prove hard to beat for the team of Karl Burke and Clifford Lee.

The three-year-old was an excellent winner on his first attempt over the distance at Ascot when holding off Fireblade to win by under a length.

He lost little in defeat at York in the Melrose Handicap when only beaten two lengths when runner-up behind Infraad.

Expected to resume his progress on these terms, and the strength of his sixth behind Enceladus in the King George V Stakes looks like rock-solid form.

The most eagerly anticipated race of the day comes from Kempton, as Constitution Hill faces his biggest challenge to date on the flat in the Group Three September Stakes.

However, the Nicky Henderson superstar could come up short against proven group performers on the flat. Pride Of Arras could be the value play for Ralph Beckett after running a stormer in the Group Two York Stakes last time, beaten just two lengths by Item, who subsequently won the Group One Juddmonte International.

This step back up in distance should suit after previously winning the Group Two Great Voltigeur Stakes on his first start after being gelded last August, and is of interest on his first all-weather start with strong form lines in the book.

The penultimate race on ITV this weekend is the Old Borough Cup Handicap, run over a mile and six. Finalise looks like an interesting selection for the William Haggas team after showing plenty of stamina on her latest efforts, finishing second over the distance at Goodwood before finishing third in a listed race in Germany.

She is well treated on the strength of those two runs, and Tom Marquand is booked to take the ride on the filly, who looks like a winner in waiting on these terms.

The feature on Saturday’s card from Haydock is the Group One Sprint Cup Stakes, run over six furlongs. Almeraq should be respected, while Coppull is a capable three-year-old contender.

However, the latter’s best efforts have come over slightly longer. The conditions could play to the strengths of Kind Of Blue, who was five lengths behind Almeraq in the Group One Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Stakes.

However, the James Fanshawe runner is more suited to softer ground, evident after landing the Group One British Champions Sprint Stakes in October 2024.

She will get her ground this weekend, and she handles the track after finishing within a length of Big Mojo in last year’s Sprint Cup Stakes.
