13:35 - Market Rasen - Don Dandy

Sunday’s ITV coverage kicks off with a Juvenile Hurdle, run over an extended two miles. A small field of seven go to post, and it could be hard to overlook the team of Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen with Don Dandy.

The three-year-old carries a penalty, but has plenty in hand based on official ratings. He was a very convincing winner of a conditions hurdle in France earlier this year, with that race run on very soft ground.

Therefore, conditions should suit this Sunday, and hard to overlook the runner based on recent stable form.

13:50 - Aintree - We’re Red And Blue

There is also action from Aintree for the first time this season, with the ITV coverage from Merseyside kicking off with a Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase over two miles. We’re Red And Blue could be an interesting chance on chase debut, carrying 11-0.

The Jonjo & A J O’Neill team have been among the winners in the last two weeks, striking at 19%. He was a regular performer over hurdles last season, finishing second in handicaps at Haydock and Kempton.

Should develop into a smart handicapper over bigger obstacles and interesting in this company.

14:10 - Market Rasen - Tommy’s Oscar

Next up from Market Rasen is the Unibet Middle Distance Chase Series Veterans’ Handicap Chase. This could be a good opportunity for Tommy’s Oscar to record a second win this calendar year.

The eleven-year-old carried top weight on his last start and ran with credit over an inadequate two miles and a furlong at Kelso. Steps back up in trip, and should be capable from a reduced mark, and more than capable now, not having to carry top weight.

Should be suited by conditions, having finished an excellent second to JPR One in the Scottish Champion Chase and winning over an extended three miles on good-to-soft at the start of the year.

14:25 - Aintree - Knappers Hill

Next up from Aintree is the Vieux Lion Rouge Veterans’ Handicap Chase, run over a distance of three miles and a furlong. Knappers Hill should give a bold account for the Paul Nicholls team.

Freddie Gingell is booked aboard the ten-year-old, who typically thrives in the opening months of the season. That was reflected last year, finishing second on return at Chepstow, before winning at Wincanton by a wide margin.

Ran well over three miles in the Rowland Meyrick on Boxing Day, before two no-shows rounded off his season. First-time-out could be the time to catch him.

14:41 - Market Rasen - Livin On Luco

A handicap chase over an extended three miles and three is next on the agenda from Market Rasen. Cases can be made for many in a wide-open affair, but Livin On Luco typically goes well fresh and could be back on a workable mark after underperforming on unsuitably good ground at Sandown at the end of last season.

The eight-year-old was a winner on return over an extended three miles and three at Fontwell at the start of last season, before running a stormer to finish fourth in the Welsh Grand National.

Rated 6lb higher than his last win, but he has more upside than most, and Sean Bowen is booked aboard for the first time.

15:00 - Aintree - Boombawn

The feature from Aintree on Sunday is the Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase. Boombawn looks like an obvious chance in first-time headgear for the Harry and Dan Skelton combination.

The nine-year-old has won twice from 17 starts over fences, and likely needed his return run at Chepstow at the beginning of the month. Has run well without threatening in big handicaps, including at Aintree when eighth in the Topham Handicap Chase.

Was fourth, beaten four lengths, in this race 12 months ago but carries 3lb less this Sunday.

15:20 - Galway - Brother Walfrid

One race is also covered from Galway this Sunday, with the Supermac’s Rated Novice Hurdle covering a distance of an extended two miles and four.

Brother Walfrid could be an interesting contender for the Gordon Elliott yard, with Danny Gilligan booked aboard.

The five-year-old has finished in the first two in three of his five starts over hurdles, but was disappointing when last seen carrying top weight at Downpatrick. Should be capable of getting back on track now dropped in trip.

15:35 - Aintree - Norn Iron

The coverage from Aintree is rounded off with a handicap hurdle over two miles and four. Norn Iron represents the Harry Derham yard, and Paul O’Brien is booked aboard.

The eight-year-old looks capable of exploiting this handicap mark, as he is rated 7lb higher over fences. Was last seen over bigger obstacles, falling short in a hat-trick bid when beaten three lengths by Funiculi Funicula at Punchestown.

Was last seen over hurdles winning by a yawning 19 lengths at Plumpton last April.
