ITV Racing Tips – Thursday 7th May 2026 Best Bets for Chester & Huntingdon

ITV's second day of coverage from the Boodles May Festival features five races from Chester, headlined by the Group Three Ormonde Stakes.

We have gone through all televised races on Thursday, picking out ITV horse racing tips, and an accumulator for ITV racing.

13:30 - Chester - Seven Questions

Thursday’s ITV coverage kicks off with a handicap over five furlongs. Seven Questions should benefit from a low draw for the Robert Cowell team, with Tom Marquand booked to take the ride.

The five-year-old was poorly drawn on his last start, finishing sixth of eight at Ripon. However, he should be capable off this mark now. Has won four times on the turf, with his best efforts coming over five furlongs.

13:45 - Huntingdon - William Cody

Jumps action from Huntingdon is also covered on Thursday. Pam Sly-trained William Cody should be primed for a big effort after running credibly last time out when only narrowly beaten by Rath Gaul Hill.

Will relish the ground conditions and looks well-suited to this challenge after winning over course and distance in November 2024. Has finished in the first two on his last five starts at Huntingdon.

14:05 - Chester - Donegal Rose

Next up is a Maiden Stakes over an extended five furlongs. Hugo Palmer-trained Donegal Rose should be suited to this challenge after running with great credit when fifth on debut.

Steps up in trip, and this son of Kodiac looks to be a winner in waiting if settling quicker. Oisin Murphy takes the ride, which is also a positive.

14:35 - Chester - Flushing Meadows

The Listed Raindance Dee Stakes has attracted a high-quality field, but Flushing Meadows could be primed to strike on his second start this season. The three-year-old by Wootton Bassett was eighth on return when sent off favourite over seven furlongs at Leopardstown.

This step up in trip should suit, and his recent run should see him in his best light on these terms of an in-form Aidan O’Brien yard. O’Brien has won the last four editions of the Dee Stakes.

15:05 - Chester - Jan Brueghel

Aidan O’Brien holds a strong hand in the Group Three Ormonde Stakes. However, Ryan Moore has opted to ride Jan Brueghel, ensuring that yard confidence is high.

The five-year-old returns to the track after a disappointing fourth in the Group One King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes in July.

Had previously beaten Calandagan in the Group One Coronation Cup. Should enjoy stepping back up in trip after previously beating the re-opposing Illinois over a mile and six in the Group One St. Leger.

15:40 - Chester - Monarch’s Gold

A competitive handicap rounds off the ITV coverage on Thursday, with a field of 14 involved in the Workplace Handicap over an extended seven furlongs.

Monarch’s Gold could be of interest from a low draw after failing to perform in the All-Weather 3 Year Old Championships Handicap last time out. Looked progressive before that no-show, including when second by a head at Haydock in September.

The return to the turf, coupled with the step up in trip makes him interesting.
