14:20 - York - Klassleader

ITV’s coverage of the Dante Festival kicks off with the Race to the Ebor Jarvik Handicap over a mile and four furlongs. William Haggas typically fires in the winners at this meeting, and his week could get off to a perfect start with Klassleader.

The four-year-old showed promise over the distance last season, winning impressively at Ffos Las in August. Was only narrowly beaten on his final start in 2025 when leaving it too late to make his move, when beaten under a length by Sing Us A Song.

14:40 - Yarmouth - Noga’s Dream

One race from Yarmouth is also covered on ITV on Wednesday, with a five-furlong handicap due off at 14:40. Noga’s Dream could benefit from a higher draw for the Richard Hughes team.

The six-year-old has a modest strike rate, winning twice from 24 starts on the turf. However, he looked on song when last seen at the end of April, when not beaten far at Nottingham. On a workable mark and Hector Crouch is a positive jockey booking.

14:55 - York - Pilgrim

Next up is a handicap over six furlongs, and it could pay to side with the lower stalls. Pilgrim typically runs his best races at York, including a win over course and distance.

Wasn’t beaten far by American Affair at the track last season when finishing ninth in a competitive handicap. Has looked back to his best already this season, including when winning a big-field handicap at Musselburgh at the start of April. William Pyle once again takes the ride.

15:30 - York - Ain’t Nobody

The first of two group races at York on Wednesday is the Group Two Minster Stakes. Horses aged four and five have a strong record, while eight of the last eleven winners have had at least one prior start. Sprints on the flat are like the wild west, meaning that it could be worth chancing Kevin Ryan-trained Ain’t Nobody.

The stable has won this race on two previous occasions, and the selection wasn’t given a hard race when last of 14 at Newmarket last time, when appearing not to handle the track. Has some back form at York to his name, including when a close second behind Asfoora in the Group One Nunthorpe last August.

The feature on Day One of the Dante Festival is the Group Three Musidora Stakes, which serves as a trial for the Oaks. Legacy Link looked hugely progressive last season for the John & Thady Gosden yard, winning over a mile at Haydock before being a close fourth behind Precise in the Group One bet365 Fillies’ Mile.

She should take this step up in trip in her stride as a daughter of Dubawi, and she is among the main Oaks contenders at current odds of 8/1.

16:40 - York - Startled

ITV’s final televised race on Wednesday is a handicap over seven furlongs. Being drawn low can often avoid being caught in trouble, meaning that Startled makes appeal for the in-form Richard Hughes team.

In-form Saffie Osborne takes the ride on the gelding, who was last seen impressively taking the step up to seven furlongs in his stride when beating Hardy’s Hero by a neck. Should still be capable of more over this distance, and there’s plenty to like.
