The Santiago Bernabeu hosts Spain and Brazil this Tuesday in an international friendly. Spain will be looking for a statement win in this international break going into the European Championships, whereas Brazil also look for good form for the Copa America.

The last international break before the summer, which sees both the European Championships and the Copa America, competitions both sides will be looking to dominate and win after a disappointing World Cup.

Spain did win the last international competitions they entered, that being the Nations League. La Roja beat off current European champions Italy and met Croatia in the Final. After a 0 - 0 draw, Spain picked up the trophy with a 5 - 4 penalty shootout win.

La Roja also dominated their Qualification group for the 2024 Euros. Group A hosted Spain, Scotland, Norways, Georgia and Cyprus, but in eight games Spain had seven wins and one loss, finishing the group four points above Scotland.

Brazil, on the other hand, have been busy in the South America World Cup Qualifiers. In CONMEBOL Brazil played six games where they picked up two wins, one draw, and three losses. This left Brazil seven points, just two points within the qualification cut-off.

The Canary Squad last faced a European side in the Quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. After a goalless 90 minutes, the tie was sent to extra time. Bruno Petkovic gave Croatia the lead but Neymar equalised to send it to penalties. However, with Rodrygo and Marquinhos missing, Brazil crashed out.

This will be the tenth meeting between Spain and Brazil in their histories. The first meeting cam all the way back in the second ever World Cup in 1934, and this will be the first meeting since 2013. Brazil have the better record in the fixture with five wins in comparison to Spain’s two wins, the other two games ending in a draw.

Spain haven’t beaten Brazil since 1990, where they picked up a 3 - 0 win in a friendly. Also, this fixture usually sees only one team on the scoresheet, with the last game that saw both teams scoring coming all the way back in 1962.

Luis de la Fuente has called up a strong side for these friendlies. Barcelona pair Pedri and Gavi both missed out due to injury, but the likes of Rodri and Alex Baena will fill in nicely.

Brazil Team News

Fernando Diniz will be missing some key figures for this international break. Neymar is still out with a knee injury, and the likes of Ederson and Gabriel Martinelli have recently pulled out of the squad due to injury.

In their last five games in all competitions, Spain have five wins.

The visit from Cyprus saw Spain run riot. Gavi and Mikel Merino both scored in the first half to give La Roja the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. Joselu added a third and a brace from Ferran Torres and a goal from Baena in the last 20 minutes secured the 6 - 0 win for Spain.

The clash between the top two of Group A saw Spain host Scotland. However, La Roja restricted Scotland to just one shot on target and 25% of the possession as goals from Alvaro Morata and Oihan Sancet grabbed a 2 - 0 win for Spain.

Gavi scored the only goal of the game in the 49th minute as Spain secured the 1 - 0 win over Norway in spite of having just two shots on target.

The reverse fixture against Cyprus at the Alphamega Stadium did see Cyprus on the scoresheet. However, the goal from Kostas Pileas was just a consolation goal as the first half goals from Lamine Yamal, Mikel Oyarzabal and Joselu bagged a 3 - 1 win for Spain.

Robin Le Normand opened the scoring for Spain in just the fourth minute but Kvicha Kvaratskhelia equalised for Georgia before the ten-minute mark to make it 1 - 1 at halftime. Torres regained the lead for Spain early in the second half and an own goal from Luka Lochoshvili secured the 3 - 1 win for Spain.

Spain also take on Colombia in an international friendly on Friday.

In their last five games in all competitions, Brazil have one win, one draw and three losses.

Marquinhos scored the only goal of the game late in the 90th minute to give Brazil the 1 - 0 win over a Peru side who had just 37% of the possession and zero shots on target.

Brazil took the lead early in the second half through a Gabriel Magalhaes goal against Venezuela. Despite having six shots on target and 71% of the possession, Eduard Bello equalised with just five minutes to go to force the 1 - 1 draw.

The visit to Uruguay saw both Darwin Nunez and Nicolas de la Cruz on the scoresheet as Brazil failed to registered a single shot on target and slumped to a 2 - 0 loss.

Martinelli opened the scoring for Brazil early on in the fourth minute, but a four minute brace from Luis Diaz late on secured the 2 - 1 comeback win for Colombia.

A big game against Argentina saw Brazil see red. Following Nicolas Otamendi picking up the only goal of the game, Joelinton was shown a red card as Brazil suffered a 1 - 0 loss.

Brazil also have a big game against England on Saturday.

Despite Brazil having the better record in the fixture, historically, their current form and key injuries suggests that Spain may have the upperhand. This fixture rarely sees both sides on the scoresheet, and with Brazil’s woes, this is likely to continue. Spain 2-0 Brazil
