The Europa League returns to our television screens this week, as UEFA's second-tier competition is now set to provide shocks and wonders throughout the competition.
The competition started in 1971, replacing the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and between 1970 and 1990, teams such as Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus & Inter Milan competed.
The rebranding to what we know nowadays was confirmed in 2009, and during the 2010s, Spanish clubs, notably Sevilla, became the kings of the competition. Sevilla have won the Europa League/UEFA Cup seven, more than any other club.
AFC Bournemouth, Sunderland and Crystal Palace are the English representatives this season, with each looking to replicate Aston Villa's success last time out.
