Jamaica make the trip to Austin and the AT&T Stadium this Thursday for the Semi-final of the CONCACAF Nations League.

The US and Jamaica both look to book their place in the Final of the Nations League and get their hands on an international trophy. Both teams will also be looking for wins to get some good momentum going into the Copa America this summer.

The United States entered the Nations League at the Quarter-final stage due to being ranked second by CONCACAF, picking up 1,836 points, 42 points from top spot Mexico. That Quarter-final saw The US take on Trinidad and Tobago, who they beat over two legs.

The Stars and Stripes are the most successful team in Nations League history. The US won in both 2021 and 2023, beating Mexico and Canada. The Copa America, on the other hand, in their four appearances The US have yet to make a Final but have finished fourth twice in 1995 and 2016.

Jamaica, on the other hand, had to go through the group stage. Drawn into League A Group B, Jamaica took on Honduras, Suriname, Cuba, Haiti and Grenada. In four games, Jamaica picked up three wins and one draw, finishing top of the group, three points clear of Honduras. Jamaica then beat fourth ranked Canada across two legs of the Quarter-final.

Having made the Semi-finals of the Nations League, Jamaica have automatically qualified for the Copa America. The Reggae Boyz have competed at the Copa America twice before in 2015 and 2016, but crashed out in the group stage both times, yet to win a single game in the competition.

The US and Jamaica have met 32 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in the 1988 World Cup. The Stars and Stripes have a much better record in the fixture with 19 wins in comparison to Jamaica’s three wins. A draw is more common than a Jamaica win in this fixture, happening on ten occasions.

The last five games in this fixture have been three wins for the US and two draws. In fact, Jamaica haven’t beaten the US since 2019, where they won 1 - 0 in an international friendly. This isn’t a fixture of goals, with most games having two goals or less.

Gregg Berhalter has been dealt a blow by Josh Sargent and Luca De La Torre having to withdraw due to injury. However, the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Haji Wright, the latter who has impressed in the Championship this season, were added to the roster. Familiar faces of Folarin Balogun and captain Christian Pulisic also return.

Heimir Hallgrimsson had called-up a strong side, but has since sent home Aston Villa star Leon Bailey and other forward Trivante Stewart for breaking curfew. Other big names called up, however, include New York Red Bull’s Cory Burke and Oxford United’s Greg Leigh.

In their last five games in all competitions, the US have two wins and three losses.

An international friendly saw the US host Germany at Rentschler Field. The Stars and Stripes took the lead just before the 30 minute mark through Pulisic but Ilkay Gundogan made it level at halftime. However, goals from Niclas Fullkrug and Jamal Musiala grabbed a 3 - 1 win for Germany.

The US bounced back in another friendly, this time against Ghana. All four goals came in the first half as Giovanni Reyna picked up a brace and was joined on the scoresheet by Pulisic with a penalty and Balogun in the 4 - 0 win for the US.

The first leg of the Nations League Quarter-finals saw the US host Trinidad and Tobago. Noah Powder’s red card in the 37th minute saw Trinidad and Tobago down to ten men for the majority of the game but it was only in the last ten minutes that Ricardo Pepi, Antonee Robinson and Reyna all scored to secure a 3 - 0 win.

The return leg saw the US a man down. Robinson opened the scoring for the US but following the red card to Sergino Dest, Reon Moore equalised for Trinidad and Tobago. Alvin Jones then scored in the second half to give Trinidad and Tobago the 2 - 1 win, but the US still progressed with a 4 - 2 aggregate win.

The last time out for the US was a friendly against Slovenia. Nejc Gradisar scored the only goal of the game in the 26th minute to give Slovenia the 1 - 0 win.

In their last five games in all competitions, Jamaica have two wins, two draws and one loss.

An international friendly saw Jamaica take on Guatemala. Neither side could find the back of the net in the 90 minutes and had to settle for a 0 - 0 draw.

In the first leg of the Nations League Quarter-final, Jamaica hosted Canada at the National Stadium Independence Park. Jonathan David’s goal in the added time of the first half gave Canada the lead at halftime. Shamar Nicholson pulled Jamaica level early in the second half but an 85th minute goal from Stephen Eustaquio grabbed a 2 - 1 win for Canada.

The return game saw Alphonso Davies give Canada the lead at halftime again. However, a quickfire brace from Nicholson gave Jamaica the lead, though Ismael Kone did bring Canada level just minutes later. Despite the red card to Demarai Gray, Bobby De Cordova-Reid converted his penalty to make it 3 - 2, 4 - 4 on aggregate with Jamaica progressing on away goals.

Kaheim Dixon scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute to give Jamaica the 1 - 0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in an international friendly.

The most recent outing for Jamaica was another friendly against Trinidad and Tobago. Neither team could find the back of the net as the game finished in a 0 - 0 draw.

The US have a good record against Jamaica and are likely to extend it this weekend. Despite the influx of talent from the English leagues, Jamaica may find it hard to get on the scoresheet. USA 2-0 Jamaica
