Friday ITV Racing Tips - 10th October 2025

13:15 - Newmarket - Brussels

A bumper Friday afternoon of racing on ITV kicks off with the Group Three Cornwallis Stakes.

Brussels should be very difficult to oppose in this company for the Aidan O’Brien yard. The two-year-old was narrowly denied by the impressive Wise Approach over six furlongs at Newmarket last time when beaten just under a length in the Group One Middle Park.

The drop back to five furlongs should suit, and the yard are unsurprisingly in red-hot form.

13:30 - York - Leadman

York joins the ITV party at 13:30, and a competitive handicap over a mile sees plenty have leading chances.

Leadman has been somewhat of a cliff-horse this season, but the David O’Meara runner still looks like he has a big purse in him. He was last in action over seven furlongs at Newmarket, finishing four lengths off Elarak.

The step back up to a mile should suit, and he wasn’t beaten far when eighth over course and distance in August.

13:50 - Newmarket - Classic Cuvee

Plenty of interesting profiles line up in the Group Three Oh So Sharp Stakes at 13:50. However, the progressive Classic Cuvee looks like the runner to stay on the right side of.

The filly was second on debut at Newmarket in August when sent off at a big price. She has since shown her quality when landing a maiden at Doncaster over seven furlongs by a neck from Amelia Earhart.

A bold showing is likely this week, but her future could lie over a mile as she continues to strengthen.

14:05 - York - Real American

A big field goes to post for the 14:05 at York, with plenty likely to have leading chances.

However, Karl Burke’s Real American could be an improving runner that is worth chancing. The two-year-old colt was a winner on debut over seven furlongs at Catterick in October, winning more comfortably than the winning distance of a neck would suggest.

Goes off a relatively lenient mark at York following that success, and there could be plenty of improvement to come.

14:25 - Newmarket - Poet Master

The Group Two Challenge Stakes has a wide-open feel to it, but Cosmic Year could be opposable based on his recent efforts.

Poet Master could be a runner worth considering after running to great credit on unsuitable soft ground throughout the season.

A return to a sounder surface should suit his chances, especially after winning a handicap over course and distance last April, and the Group Two Mintreal Stakes at the Curragh. Plenty to like.

14:40 - York - Canvas

Canvas could be a very well handicapped runner in the 14:40 at York on Friday.

The Scott Dixon three-year-old was impressive over a mile last time, beating Rajapour with seemingly plenty in hand. Has previous form over a mile and two after narrowly denied by King Of The Sea at Haydock in July.

Joey Haynes is restored to the saddle after winning on the selection in July.

14:57 - Newmarket - Composing

A fascinating edition of the Group One Fillies’ Mile is set for Friday.

Aidan O’Brien holds a number of leading chances, but an each-way angle could come in the form of Composing. Wayne Lordan is back aboard after missing the last two rides when she was beaten at the Curragh.

Lordan was aboard when Composing produced a career-best effort to beat Suzie Songs by two lengths in the Group Two Debutante Stakes. Ground conditions will be vitally important this week, and any rain would be a huge negative.

15:12 - Chepstow - Le Milos

The jumps are finally back! ITV covers two races from Chepstow on Friday, including the Veterans’ Handicap Chase.

Le Milos could have plenty in hand on this field for trainer Dan Skelton. The ten-year-old was a winner on his latest start at Fakenham at the start of May, easily swatting aside Tommie Beau to win by five lengths.

The drop back in distance shouldn’t present many issues after a solid effort over two miles and four at Warwick in February. Could be well ahead of the handicapper if bringing his A-game. No major questions surrounding the ground.

15:30 - Newmarket - Minhad

ITV’s final race from Newmarket on Friday is the Old Rowley Cup Handicap.

Minhad could be an each-way angle for the Ismail Mohammed yard. The lightly-raced three-year-old ran an excellent race last time when second at Chester over an extended mile and six.

The drop back down to a mile and four should suit, and he has already won over course and distance this season. Improvement will be required to beat the top weights in this race, but he is the progressive sort.

15:43 - Chepstow - Jack Hyde

The competitive Grade Two Persian War Novices’ Hurdle concludes the coverage on ITV this Friday.

Queensbury Boy could be hard to beat, but Jack Hyde could present plenty of upside for trainer Fergal O’Brien, who typically thrives at the start of a new season.

The seven-year-old has a recent run under his belt after dominating a below-par field at Newton Abbott last month, but he has some solid form from last term, which includes a pair of dominant wins at Southwell on good-to-soft ground.
