Jonbon is undeniably the star attraction at Cheltenham on Friday, but his course record and poor showing in the Grade One Celebration Chase at the end of last season could mean that he is a vulnerable favourite.
Therefore, a chance could be taken on Libberty Hunter in the ‘Without Jonbon’ market. The Evan Williams runner was running a big race in the Grade One Champion Chase in March before coming down three out when well in contention.
Harry Cobden is back aboard this week, just as he was when the selection won over an extended two miles on his seasonal return at Cheltenham last December.
Unlike Jonbon, Libberty Hunter seems to run his best races at the track, finishing in the first two on three of his four starts. The expected conditions will suit, and he could run a big race in the Grade Two Shloer Chase.
